Paid Situation Got kicked offline, and found out that my account was locked. I checked my email and this is what I got. Now when I check on here I noticed a few things. 1. There is an apparent 'ban wave' happening concurrently. 2. People are getting perma-banned or '72' hour temporary bans However, my email looks a little different from what others have been copy/pasting. I got a 48 hour suspension, not a 72. Account Action: Suspension (48 Hours) Offense: Unapproved Third Party Software A third party program is any file or program that is not a part of the World of Warcraft software, but is used to gain an advantage in the game, such as increasing your movement speed or teleporting from one place to another beyond what is allowed by game design. It also includes any programs that obtain information from the game that is not normally available to the regular player or that transmit or modify any of the game files. Normally, this classification does not include UI modifications, except those UIs that require an external application to function. Any external applications that are used in conjunction with World of Warcraft can cause quite a few unwanted side effects. Some of the major possible results of the use of third party programs can be instability of the game to the point that a player "crashes" from the game quite often. External programs can also be used to transmit viruses, spyware, and other unwanted programs into a player's computer. Third party programs can also be used to obtain information from the player's computer, such as account, password, and personal information. Also, I don't know if this is relevant, but at the top it shows the account name as well as character name. The character name that was there was not the character botted on, nor was it the top character on the list. Along with this being a 48 hour ban, I am wondering if maybe I was suspended for a different reason? I believe I was banned because I switched to someones VOTWF script where I was mimicking the path of several players. I had only been using this script for 18 hours before the suspension. I had been using my own path for 3 months prior. Along with bad timing in this apparent 'ban wave', I believe this is the sole reason for reports. Before I made the mistake of doing this, I had great luck with these tips I can recommend. I never botted outside of normal playing hours. I always responded to whispers and was extremely active in guild chat (guild leader) I didn't put anything up on the auction house, and if I did it was no more than 15-20 stacks at a time. I did not bot for more than 3-4 hours at a time. I was extremely active on alts and mains with pvp/timeless etc without third party programs USE your own paths/profile Don't fly so close to the ground, when I used someone elses profile I realized that i was flying directly overhead of questing players repeatedly. Easily noticed. Using someones profile probably means you will end up mirroring paths with someone eventually. Easily spottable, hell the other botter might even report you. So I'll repeat my questions Does a 48 hour ban differentiate from the 72 hour botting bans? Or is it solely up to the GM that is responsible? This is why I suggested maybe someone reported me for a different reason. Does my email message appear different from the usual ones? My character name that was reported was not my botting character or top of my list character, not the character I was currently logged in as when I was kicked. Does this have to do with anything? (Again suggesting that the infraction was on this character, and may not be related to botting)
It's possible that it was an auto-ban from being reported while gathering. Using Gatherbuddy right now is very risky due to the way it uses waypoints; no matter how you use it though, using the same profile for any length of time is very risky, especially a public profile. I will warn you that if you do not want the count permanently suspended, I would hold off for a good, long while. What seems to be happening is that after being suspended, your account is flagged and they monitor process snapshots for some time after. I was nailed after having not used HB for three months after my suspension, then was permabanned thirty minutes after booting up Lazyraider for a few hours.
