so i just got the banhammer thrown at me on both my botting accounts, but they are saying i was selling items/in game currency for real world currency which i don't do. what do you guys think i should say to blizz to try and get my accounts back? here is the email, all i do is bot for 12 hours and i don't even sell that much on the AH maybe 150 -200 actions, i usually COD most of my stuff ***Notice of Account Closure*** Account Name: ***** Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy. Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment. We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=25455 The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment: Blizzard Legal Documentation. I'd reply back with complete denial - something like: "I went to log onto my account and couldn't... it said it was closed. I was really shocked when I checked my email and found this! I have no idea why you would close my account - I have NEVER and I mean NEVER sold gold. Not once! I do spend alot of time farming my materials sometimes cause I have alot of toons that I have to make stuff for (or guildies that I send stuff too... something like that). I have been playing this game since/for (fill in with something like Beta, Burning Crusade, 6 months... whenever that account joined)... Basically stand your ground and jump on the fact that they are accusing you of something you absolutely did not do. Can't say from experience whether it will work or not, haven't been suspended or banned yet. Just telling you what I would do if I got that. Good luck!
Yep, always dispute, I recently had the same thing happen. They tried to say that I was "exploiting by selling currency" and I definitely fought that and won.
i had this aswell. had 2 accounts closed for selling gold. then they closed the 3rd becuase its being played at the same ip i assume. never sold gold from it or botted.
In battle.net they will have a "ticket" in the support section when you log in. It's in the top right, it will have a little red thing with how many ever tickets. I just went in there, they said gold selling. And right there is a spot to dispute it. I never opened a ticket in game.
I got both of my accounts back =D they basically said that if i was caught again they might not let me off, should i lay low for a while and only bot for like 5 hours or something?
its an automated system that looks for gold sellers based on a set of rules, the gold sellers dont dispute real people do. thats what they are looking for.
The reasons they give for banning account don't mean hardly anything. Seems like different GM's use different reasons, but just because it says you were selling gold doesn't mean that was the actual reason. Just fill out the account recovery form and they'll probably unlock it this time.
The system can only catch you when posting auctions or sending CODs. Gathering mats, leveling toons, or even pvp, the only way they can get you is through player reports. Get yourself a good cc, and don't AH or COD mass stuff for a week or two.
OMG! I GOT THE SAME THING!!! yesterday i had been farming and i got that same account closure reason. Couldnt get my account back no matter how hard i tried. I hadnt been selling gold at all.
Pretty simple rule to follow. Don't bot on something you can't stand losing. If you bot you WILL eventually get caught whether its through detections, player reports, or other means. COD'ing lots of mats is how lots of the gold sellers are doing things right now. Probably what detection you hit.
yea it was definitely the COD'ing, i was pulling in around 60k a night for about a week before i got banned, =P over 600k in my bank =P
it's actually stupid.. they ban you for "Abuse of the Economy" when i send my self gold lol... and pvp'ing 24/7 for two weeks and not a single 12hr ban lol seems they are catching up on bans now that they finished with patch crap
To those who thinks their abuse of economy only looks at COD and AH, you are incorrect. I use to run a warcraft casino (within the guidelines of not advertising on trade chat). I would consistently make large transfers, in the 50k+ range between customers and every few weeks i would get the ban. I've had it reversed maybe 10+ times when i had them look into it.
watch my thread of being banned for something i didnt do also i didnt give a fuck about it neither did i called them and i got resset
