So I took advantage of the $30 sale and bought 2 accounts. One was banned last night while I was afk botting leveling. This was a brand new account, only suspicious behavior was about an hour or so of afk leveling with Kick's. Weird thing is the ban email said it was for abuse of economy, but i never bought, sold or auctioned anything. Hi mate, I was banned on my Hunter too this morning [0300-0900 AWST] farming herb/ore in Jade Forest. I have only been botting since Wednesday 19/06/2013 for roughly 6hrs per day (after work) and had no prior warnings/bans. Account was clean. Received an email while at work and just now appealed the ban. Noticed on the forums a lot of people have been affected, possible ban wave?
I'm not sure if this is a factor, but I had it running through a V.P.N. service. It was odd, I thought that when I logged into the game client the first time, it told me my account was locked. I had literally just created the bnet account and bought the game 15 mins previous, never had logged into the game. I reset the password and went on my way. I wonder if that had something to do with the IP, perhaps another botter using the same V.P.N service and blizz had that flagged for extra scrutiny. Dunno. I appealed it this morning we'll see what happens...
Their ban methods are so weird - I wish we had an informant on how they do it (auto or manual). It does seem like alot of people who are buying the new accounts then botting them in the sale are getting the hammer, I wonder if its the influx of people in the starting zone, manual checking the areas or just some algorithm they have in place.
Ban removed, no 72 hours temp. Basically got an email that said they reviewed removed the ban and apologized for the inconvenience. Bet it was some sort of auto ban based on that V.P.N out point. Meh, back to botting
