For some reason today my computer decided it wouldn't let me connect to HB/GB. I know it's not the server because I can log into the auth servers online. I've tried resetting/turning off my anti-virus/firewall/router but for some reason it still won't connect.

Another weird thing from this is this morning firefox was set to connect through a proxy and wouldn't get online until I changed it. Do you think this is some sort of virus or how/what settings should I check to fix this? Thanks for any help.

Yes, some virii and malware will alter your proxy settings. Antivirus Live malware is one such example.

Have you downloaded anything recently? Windoze has amazing Hoover abilities for collecting virus, cruft, bloatware, keyloggers, et al. You should empty the bag by reloading it fresh every 9-12 months, anyway. :D

      cheers,

I don't think I've downloaded anything recently but I could be wrong. I guess I'll have to figure out what's blocking HB/GB from connecting or else do like you said and do a refresh although I hate doing that with all of hte programs and apps I have that I use regularly.

I am about at my wit's end on this. I've disabled everything I can think of that would be blocking this but can't seem to figure it out. I wish I was more tech savvy.

Check Internet Explorer. (The proxy settings there carry over to .NET)

Thank you! I had just fixed it myself doing that 5 sec before you posted it but that was the issue. Now if I only knew what caused it.
