Can't play (effectively) without Honorbuddy - pathetic?

Because of Patch 6.1 introducing new code, HB is down for the time being. As a result, I cannot play several classes effectively, most notable of which is my 660 Blood DK. The rotation on the Blood DK is complex, as is the rune system, and on top of that, it's a tank spec. I sometimes think the very-short queues are not worth all that hassle.

Other classes/roles that HB does better than me are Unholy DK (my main's off-spec), BM Hunter (a few buttons sure, but a lot to look out for), and Holy Paladin (**** healing w/o a bot I say).

Right now the only two classes that I can play well without HB are the Affliction Warlock (easiest of the 3 specs, though I can manage the other 2 to some degree), and the Shadow Priest (mucking around with one on the PTR).

It wasn't always like this, but sometime into Cata I discovered HB and have been using it ever since. In the end, is it pathetic of me that I can't play most classes without HB helping my rotation?

It's not necessarily pathetic, I'm sure with time you can come to understand how to play all of your characters effectively. You should use this as a bit of a warning that you're not playing enough of the actual game anymore and are more worried about making gold or whatever it may be.

 

Try such rotation addons as DKRot for DK and else. It will show you on screen which button to press next. Almsot every class has this addon, just browse curse or google it. Such addons optimizing rotation.

And just set up your actionbar by using noxxic, icy-veins with the spells your class use as a rotation and you are good to go

In my case it's not a question of not being able to handle the rotation, I'm lost without HB due to the fact that I suffer from severe arthritis and aren't able to hammer the keys as quick anymore, so HB+Raidbot+CR is a absolut necessity for me.

Without it, I wouldn't be able to play WoW at all.

 

The crappiest part of Patch Day is not bot downtime, it is having to read threads like this.

I can't speak for every single person here, but I bot so i don't have to play the actual game. I also bot to make gold to fund my main raiding toon. I use the bot to automate most every single part of the game including my rotation while I do the one single thing i still enjoy, which is raiding.

So, is it pathetic that you can't play your toon on Patch Day? absolutely not. If you actually cared how to play your character, you'd be doing it without the bot anyways.

Don't let anyone tell you that you are less of a gamer just because you use the bot to play the game. FFS, do people still hammer nails with their fists? of course not, they use a tool. Do you run to work every day, or do you drive? Most people drive, a car is a tool. Do I go farm 5000 Mithril Ore by hand? or do i use a tool.

Few people choose a harder method, when an easier method is available. Otherwise, we'd still be living in caves eating frogs.

 

Nah. If I couldn't bot I would have stopped playing for good a long time ago. I used to try pretty hard healing raids in Wrath, but everything got stale eventually. Now my healer can keep up with some pretty well geared raiders and often tops the charts when I join pugs. It's fun to steer a bot around while it throws out massive dps or healing.

It makes sense you'd be out of practice with specs you haven't been playing yourself.

 

yeah I can run my routine but in comparison of my dps vs its... it wins hands down im still new to hb, but the bot being able to flawlessly pull off combat while I don't stand in bad is a pretty big plus lol bc like most dps if I manual it I tunnel on my bar unless im like destroy lock or tanking

I enjoy the game but I also enjoy the freedom of not being insta kicked

and farming/grinding I think I do none manually, once I got garrison boss I don't even do that anymore amazing to help manage 6 100s

tbh I use the bot so much and raid with it so often im watching whats going on on my bars. granted manual vs bot I swap a few glyphs to make it more manageable but yeah

 

my problem is i know exactly how my character should be played, geared, and specced for bosses i just dont wanna do it manually anymore

Edit: id like to note that knowing what your rotations should be or how to heal on that class is a big help when setting up said combat rotations because you know what it should be doing and when you can get some pretty leet heals and dps.

If Blizzard had an automated combat-routine function, it'd make a killing. Just set up it up how you do with HB routines and away you go.

Sadly, Blizzard isn't that bright.

None so far. I guess we have no choice but to wait. In the meantime, the Gnomesequencer addon is promising for a few of my characters (Afflock and maybe BM Hunter, which was my former main).

 

15 minutes ago they said there most likely won't be a build ready today.

 

I can play just fine without Honorbuddy but here is the thing... I no longer find mashing buttons on cooldown as "fun" in any possible way.

I will never play wow again when the day comes that HB is no longer around.

I main as a restoration druid, and I can heal fine on my own but with the bot my awareness goes up by like 5000%. This is very valueable while raiding. I'll be standing in a lot of crap unnecessarily without it. Surely it's something of a habit, but it's also related to my UI. I used to use ElvUI to get my raidframes perfect a long with Clique, but I can't use ElvUI anymore because it gives me some weird error #132 or something everytime I use it. So I went back to blizzard stock UI and my awareness when manually playing dropped shitloads because the raid frames aren't positioned properly. Also do love that the bot manages to get 100% of Moment of Clarity procs, while almost no human would be able to react that fast with stopcasting macros to get the full duration used. When I play manually I just go Germination.

 

I would not use the term "pathetic" to describe your loss of skills. Winning or losing at a virtual/online game does not make anyone a true hero or a "pathetic" loser. It is entertainment, and if we can't walk away from it and still feel good or ok about ourselves then we need to reconsider why we play. This is one of the reasons why I laugh so much during battlegrounds. People tend to forget that it is a game. They make rude gestures at you. They put a stake in your corpse and claim they pawned you. I literally fall out of my chair laughing sometimes when I see how serious people are about this game.

 

i love it when they pwn me while i stand still waiting to die so i can rez and continue doing what i was doing before i was rudely interrupted.
