Alright, chinajade closed a previous discussion due to "speculation", which apparently isn't allowed.
No problem - let's not speculate.

But please do not kill a proper discussion, simply because you can.
Discussion is what this forum is for, isn't it?

I would like to follow up on the following :
      https://www.thebuddyforum.com/honor...orbuddy-detected-post1961371.html#post1961371
      (see post #25)

It's a very interesting statement CodenameG made :
"trust me when i tell you thats not the case. LOTS have changed from the glider days, and if it was software detection, everyone would be perma banned, and thats not the case"

Dear cj, that is _not_ speculation, that's a clear statement from one of your colleagues, so I kindly ask you not to pull the plug just like that.

id suppose 'a proper discussion' is, how did you say it, 'relative'.

i had actually responded to your post before it was shut down. so ill reply here:

blizzard can identify botters with software, without the HB client being detectable/detected.

CodenameG says the HB client being detected is nothing to worry about, because it isnt.
blizzard can use 'detection software' to identify botters.

why HB was targeted is a mystery right now, but staff is working hard to fix it.
im sure when staff feels the time is right/safe they will let us know.

      Thank you for your reaction.
I do not fully understand what you're implying with your first sentence, though - better let it rest.

Oh don't misunderstand me, I'm absolutely convinced that Bossland is working on it and one of my previous posts already clearly mentioned my trust in them.
And I'm absolutely _not_ fishing for any info about their activities.

Although I must say, that there's some "mild hostility" towards each other on this subject.
Your today's post about "haters" says enough (not judging you - no offense - just observing).

I also do realise now how difficult it is to get any information as to how using a "bot" is being detected by the WoW client, simply - and that's where chinajade is right - because the outsider doesn't know and _thus_ speculation kicks in.
However, we all know that the client is being reverse-engineered by every assembler-inmate who's even remotely interested in WoW.
I already saw some code passing by, on this forum .. Not sure whether that's a wise thing to do, though.

Anyway, creating this thread was triggered by a few contradictions, where Bossland told the community that HB could have been detected (literally: most likely option) and where CG clearly claims it hasn't.
That's not speculation, that's only asking for a consistent statement.

And since Bossland didn't publish any other statement, that one still supersedes any other one.

hehe, i was teasing you for your response to me saying 3m wow subs would disagree about your statement wow is still a good game.

and there is much hostility right now. conspiracy theory nuts are running rampant. and you try to shoot holes in their theories and they act like someone is stomping their firstborn child. every has this 'theory' that cant be wrong. well, one way to either prove or disprove your 'theory' is to do some research.

but when i mention that someone should actually find some kind of support to their theory, they go batshit, name calling, and all kinds of juvenile behavior.
so as a natural reaction, the posts get shorter and shorter and people get upset that we are mean to them.

mention a forum rule thats been a forum rule forever and you get your head bit off cause 'hb doesnt need someone defending them'
      well, la di da.

but to your question. most of HBs staff never show themselves on the forums. only a few moderators come down and head off trouble and moderate threads. lately a few of us have stepped up and tried to 'help out' by offering simple advice, directions to something thats being searched for, heads up on forum rules if someone posts something thats not allowed. but most of the forums mods that are really mods would be tony, bossland, codenameg, and chinajade. pls dont hit me if i forgot anyone, but feel free to add names.

when one says something, its because its the way it is. afaik, they all 4 are pretty equal in announcing to the forums information that needs to be announced.

bossland made the statement days ago and the update was made by CodenameG. it amends bosslands statement, not contradicts.

I must say, that picture your posted, with the "haters section" was hilarious .. couldn't stop laughing, to be perfectly honest :D

But you're right : too many people have been folding a tin-foil hat and decided to even wear them in public (read: this forum).
If you know what I mean ..

      Constructive criticism alert !
I think, if there's any update on that first (Bossland) statement - or any statement for that matter - it would be best to put it in a designated thread, where people can't reply.
Replying to someone in a random thread and haphazardly stating something that amends the Big Bossland, may trigger people like me to dig just a wee bit (yeah my main is a Dwarf) further

Anyway, again, thank you for your reply, indeed - that's how I would like to see any discussion here, without the aforementioned "hostility".
Although that wouldn't trigger people like you with hilarious responses, depicting the idiocy of some reactions !

There is no point in keeping drama threads open

youd laugh if i showed you some of the PMs ive got in the last couple days

people get ridiculously mad, like if someone contradicts their theory its the end of the world.
someone contradicts me it just makes me work harder to find proof.
some people act like im calling their momma a liar and a whore.

Then don't start one by responding to this "proper" discussion.

Why is speculation not allowed btw? Sounds like some sort of method to exercise power and control and nothing else.

Is that not what humans do? We speculate. Is that not how we learn? How we discover? How we innovate? Is that not how the bossland team began their investigation into what haopened? By speculating about the possibilities no doubt.

I'm all for forum rules but silly things such as speculation, or closing threads about our desire for private forums and the need for x64 for example are at the detriment of the community (threads which wouldnt be there if people didn't want them which devalues the customer) or another forum banning people for double posting (like it is sooo hard to tell the difference between a valid post and spamming) just feel abused and being done just to flex some kind of perceived e muscle for no gain whatsoever.

To be fair, most mods don't behave in such ways. They treat it more relatively, not as black and white. Every forum has one or two though. It's a shame. Often thought of mods needing a moderator lol. Disagreeing with a mod or a mod disagreeing with you should not merit a closing or locking or warning etc. Unfortunately someone gave them the power to do so and it tends to happen with anyone given power if not of sound mind I guess.

Anyhow - veering well off topic now. Point is - kudos for re posting and backing up your arguement. Having a post closed is the epitome of irritating especially if it's not justified or you feel it was done just because.

As for the subject behind it - we have never been privy to any bossland info until after the fact if ever. Though in this case I'd imagine they're going to (atleast they should) break from the mold and let their patrons know what happened and has been done etc.

Fortunately for me (I think) I have time to finish Renovations for baby number one now without feeling tugged in two directions. (Can you imagine? Wow competing with something like finishing a nusery. Def disease or indicator with some degree of dissatisfaction in the real world lol)

It doesn't matter if you want an answer to your question, reopening a closed thread because you aren't happy with the answer you received is a bannable offense on these forums. Creating a new thread saying in the title that you aren't happy with a thread being close is a quick way to no longer have access on these forums.

The thing is this is not a democracy were you have the freedom of speech...or at least a feeling that you have freedom of speech. This is a forum that's owned by a company and if a company doesn't like what your saying they have every right to close a thread. That's not saying it's right or they should just that they can and will. Since, you know, it is their forum. Whether people like it or not.

This is the same statement that could be made for blizz, too concerning the bans. You may not like it, but they have every right to close an account, too.
