Alright, I have a HUGE problem... I can't seem to play WoW in Dx9 without it locking up my computer. Only Dx11 is allowing me to play. You can obviously see the ordeal given HB only runs in Dx9. Should I reinstall Dx9 or is there anything I can do? This is not good... not good at all.

I did, several times :( Should I try reinstalling WoW completely? Also, I did try different versions of my 540M Nvidia card and it didn't help. I ran the game without addons too. Any ideas? This sucks, I can't even use HB... and I just bought it lol

I've gotten this a few times... A very terrifying BSOD that looks like it has something to do with Nvidia...

Any ideas as to what I should do? I'm reinstalling WoW right now. Should I do a hard reset on my laptop? I'm not very computer savvy so anything would help :)

Try un-installing your video card drivers. Then go to the manufacturer's site and download the latest version for your card. You can also try updating Direct-X from the Microsoft if that does not fix it.

After looking at a few sites, this solution seems to have the best results to solving the BSOD.:

hey there ytok, thanks a lot for the reply. So what I did yesterday was try all the drivers on the Nvidia website pertaining to my specific card, even the one on the Dell website. They one from Dell crashed at least 10 times in 5 min :( so I tried others. I would run driver sweeper to completely clear them off when trying a new one. I'm finally on the newest driver, 295.?? I believe? Last night, after I could log in to WoW for all of 2 seconds just to see my toon about to be killed in STV before it froze. I couldn't log in to any character :( So I completely deleted WoW this morning and it's currently redownloading. I'm at the point where you can press "play" so I decided to try your "Fix". So far, I've been logged into WoW for 30 min with no crash in DX9! It's still downloading WoW but this is 29 min longer then last night! I don't know if it's the new WoW or your fix but it seems to be working :) I'm going to log out and let it fully download and try it again tonight and I'll let you know. Thank you again so far!

Ugh... I spoke too soon :( I redownloaded WoW and tried to start it up in DX9 and it freezes my computer again. *sigh* I don't know what to do. It takes less then a min for it to lock up. I updated DX from microsoft but nothing helped. When you look at that BSOD I posted, does it tell you what is failing? I would love to be able to use HB. Any more suggestions? :D

at that point, it could be your video card, have you tried stressing it with some other game? like TF2 perhaps.

I ran the Furmark Burn-in test for 10 min and no crash or anything. Also, I can play WoW in DX11 with no crash, but when I switch to DX9, I can't stay in WoW for more then a min before my computer locks up. It doesn't make sense does it? Let me know if you have any suggestions, I'll try anything.

well... I tried to play in DX11 by putting "-d3dx11" without the quotations on my shortcut and it froze exactly like the DX9 did :( I'm also using the new Nvidia driver. Should I try rolling back to the last one?

check if there are drivers for your laptop for winxp cuz winxp doesn't support Dx11 so if you install it as a gaming system it will be overall better since its the best OS for gaming "after win8 ofcourse."

hey there... sorry I've been on the phone with Dell and Blizzard most of the day trying to fix this and nothing has helped :( They both said what I'm probably going to have to reformat it. This is my DxDiag. Right now I'm able to play in Dx11 but I can't play in DX9 without my comp freezing/lagging. It's really weird because my computer just looks like it is majorly lagging until it freezes and I have to hard restart it. I also have the "msinfo" report if anyone can read that. And as for the temp, I have a cooling pad underneath my laptop and can fully run the Furmark burnit test without getting above 85C. Even though it's pretty hot, it's not what's causing the crashes. What were you talking about battler? I'm just worried about getting my game to run in DX9 hehe for obvious reasons.

Do the reformat and install everything from scratch. If the problem persists, there is another thing you can do. Check your DDR instead of your graphics card. I used to have a similar problem which I have solved by underclocking my DDR. Of course before you do anything about your DDR, read up on it, see which is the optimal voltage for them and check your BIOS settings, if the problem persists with the optimal voltage first of all try to slow them down a bit eg. 800 Mhz -> 667 Mhz. Then try again. It solved the problem for me, so you can't lose anything at this point.

hes on a laptop, the bios are going to be useless for him.
im with the support, i think a reinstall from scratch would be a good idea.

Hey dazdnconfusd3356. Sorry on the late reply. Work is a bitch. I have been looking into this issue for you. Going to have you try a few things. Firstly, please go to Windows Update and make sure everything is current including your service pack. Secondly, are you overclocking your machine in anyway either through bios or through Windows? (EVGA Precision, AMD Overdrive, etc?) If you are, please reset everything to normal. What is the make and model of your laptop? Give me as much info as you can so I can see about another fix before your reformat.

      Thanks!

Hey there! Thank you all for the replies. As for the overclocking, never once did it. I'm not that great with computers so I try to steer clear of messing with it too much lol. I'm seriously considering reformatting it, which from what I've gathered, It's not that difficult. Apparently Dell only gives out a "drivers and utilities" disk now and I can just restart my computer, go into advanced options, and do a PC restore. Please correct me if I'm wrong, these are just bits and pieces of what I've gathered from the Dell website. Of course, I'll be on the phone with their representative (thank god for my warranty). Hey ytok! I'm on a Dell System XPS L502X laptop. Do you need different info then what is in the "DXDiag"? I also have the "MSinfo" too. It is FULL of errors :( When I was talking to Blizzard they were suprised how large the file was. 18 megs!

do you all think this might help? Reinstalling DirectX
How Can I Uninstall DirectX 9?
Or is it just a combination of problems that would best be fixed my a factory restore?
