For those who may not have heard the news yet, Ensidia got the world first Lich King kill for the 25-man version. (Blood Legion got the world first 10-man kill.) While the fact that Icecrown Citadel has already been cleared in it?s entirety within two days of the last wing being made available is somewhat suspect in terms of how that reflects on the quality and complexity of the encounters therein, what?s particularly noteworthy in this case is that directly following their world first, Ensidia received a temporary 72-Hour ban from the game as a result of their kill.
The reason stated for Ensidia?s ban, simply put, is that they used game exploits to complete the Lich King encounter and get the world first kill.
From Blizzard Staff in the ban notification to Ensidia members:
We are writing to inform you that we have had to place a warning on your World of Warcraft account and temporarily suspend it. It is with regret that we take this type of action, but it is in the best interests of the World of Warcraft community as a whole, and for the integrity of the game. The use of these items bypassed a major portion of the encounter, significantly reducing the difficulty in a clear abuse of game mechanics. After your suspension has expired, you will be able to access the World of Warcraft servers again.
To clarify what they?re referring to, here?s a note from Ensidia that was posted shortly after their world first:
Yes it seems this bug does relate to our kill. We had no idea that our Rogues using Saronite Bombs in their rotation (as they always do) was causing it and thusly it occured every try we did. Short version, we?re not going to stop trying the boss when all we are doing is playing our normal game. It would be nice if these kinds of things, much the same as Holy Wrath on Anub, were tested before release.
It does make the fight easier, but we are 100% sure it would have died either way. It only affects one of the easier phases.
As a side note this only occured in 25 man.
In response to the ban, Muqq announced his retirement from World of Warcraft in a blog post on the Ensidia site stating that Blizzard?s response to the incident was unfair and was largely the result of poor coding and encounter planning on the part of game developers.

That was probably the best 72hr ban I've ever gotten.

yep, and a lot of people get banned for sending gold by mail or by putting gold in GB - and then the GM says that everything is fine, just was filter which flag you.
Or a lot of people got banned for spamming or using abuse language.
But still most bans are for goldselling/flooding AH/botting.

      Months behind...

This happened to Exodus after their Yogg +0 kill as well.

Someone got a 72-hour suspension for exploiting, what a surprise.
