Wich kind of Windows do you preferre? Windows XP 32bit Windows XP 64bit Windows XP as any kind auf miniwindows Windows Vista 32bit Windows Vista 64bit Windows Vista as any kind auf minivista right now i use XP 32bit, but the prob is, as more bots i use, as more RAM i need, and XP only use 3GB Ram, but i have 4, so i dont know to change the system to wich Win Max RAM usage min. own Ram/CPU usage
I use Win7 64-bit, personally. Vista is going to use a bit more memory and computing resources than XP. If you need to scrap for every piece of memory, XP is definitely the way to go vs Vista. However, 64-bit support on XP is dicey at best. For 64-bit, Vista, or better Win7 is the way to go. However, just changing your OS from 32-bit to 64-bit is frequently not enough to get you past that 3GB barrier. All versions of 32-bit Win have the well-known 4GB memory addressing limitation. Out of that 4GB comes any memory used by your video card (512MB to 1.5GB) usually. Your video card must be in the 750MB-1GB range, and that's why you only see 3GB of RAM. But migrating to 64-bit requires your 'northbridge chipset' to also support addressing more than 32-bits. If your machine is over two years old, this is a dicey proposition (and a good chance it won't be able to address extra memory even if you moved to a 64-bit operating system). You'll have to do research on the chipset specific to your computer to know whether a 64-bit upgrade would actually let you reclaim that last 1GB by pushing your video memory above the 4GB boundary. Lots and lots of ways to be disappointed by using 64-bit on older hardware. You need to do research first. Sorry its not better news. cheers, CJ
but it help me thx i take a look at the page of my mainboard and 64bit is full support but i think i buy 4 extra GB, 8GB should be OK thet problem that i have right now, is not GB... i have run 7 GB's and the PC runs fine at CPU 4-6% and RAM at around 2GB but as soon i open 2 ore more HB's my Windows lags RAM and CPU go to hell and some wow's crash the hole time
That's a classic symptom of 'disk thrashing' due to Windows swapping RAM to the disk paging file. It sounds like you either don't have a paging file, or its too small to swap everything it needs. In either case, your performance is going to be abysmal. If Windows runs out of RAM/paging file space, applications start crashing. And, you will be unable to predict which app will crash first. It will usually be the one that makes the next memory request that cannot be fulfilled. But, those details actually depend on how the application is written. You've diagnosed the problem correctly--you need more RAM for all the copies of WoW+GB you want to run. If your Mainboard has full 64-bit support as you say, then swap your version of Windows for a 64-bit version, buy more RAM and you should be good. Personally, I recommend you avoid Vista, its a resource pig. I recommend you avoid XP because its weak and unstable on 64-bit support. That leaves Win7, if you can swing it. 64-bit Win7 actually delivers on its promises--I run it on several machines, and its very stable (for a Windoze product). If you want to test it before buying RAM, just upgrade to the 64-bit version and all of your 4GB should be available, rather than the 3GB you currently see. If that succeeds, then you should be safe for adding an additional RAM stick. cheers, CJ
the problem i have right now I CANT FIND ANY XP 64bit... rofl there is no torrent ore anything else with a new version... only 2008 2009 Oo
