Hey, need some newbie help!

Okay,

Heya, I got the hearthbuddy thing for i think between 6-7 pounds and i'm having a hard time sorting it all out.
I'm not the most tech savvy of kids so i'll maybe need some detail.
The problem is literally I haven't got anywhere, so what I have done is installed the hearthbuddy zip file, extracted all its interior to another file and well now i'm stuck there. I'm not sure where to click, I try the application naturally but It never opens? There doesn't seem to be a tutorial on it anywhere other than youtube videos that are for outdated versions.. Finally I have my key for the product but I've not the slightest clue where to input it?
Not sure if thats of any help to you guys but i'd be glad if you could point me in the right direction, sorry for the hastle, cheers!!
I haven't got any logs yet as I cant actually open it, so yeah I haven't really accomplished much.

Yeah, norton, but I disable it otherwise it quarantines some of the files, there could well be something that i'm doing wrong in disabling it.. once disabled I'm able to unzip and access the files but when I click on them the cursor does its little 'loading thing' then .. nothing, i've done the little things like run as admin and that but uhh.. not so sure! :/
