Hey guys. i am pondering the idea of getting a macbook air and selling my computer on ebay or something like that. now i never bothered to inquire about this, but is the macbook air (the basic 999$ one) viable to play wow. also does honorbuddy work on macs? if not ill have to keep my computer as a botting computer and my macbook air to play wow by hand. im just curious as to how the macbook air will handle wow for long gaming sessions (3-4 hours at a time on rainy days and usually no more than 1 hour every now and then) also how different are macs from windows computers? i never owned a mac before and im pretty excited about getting one, i fell in love with my iphone and now i want to try out their macbook air.
Why do you want a Mac? I've never understood it, they don't have special hardware in them anymore (Intel CPU's now) and they run a custom version of Linux. No you can't run HB on it, at least it's not supported. Buy an ASUS Utralbook imo, same price, better hardware and it run's windows.
i want a mac because i hear its more simple, the OS is more lightweight and the OS was actually developped to run on the hardware, so i hear its quicker, i also like the cosmetic, mac OS looks really clean and nice. also i want to be able to benefit from the Cloud system so when im at work and i take pictures of a job it sends them automatically to my computer and to my ipad. makes everything easier. its just that macs would work better with my iphone and would be great for work, and if its powerful enough to run WoW then im happy, and man, macbook air looks so good. Also the thing about it being 100% Flash storage seems like it could make it a hell of alot faster than my computer.
Can you leave it on for long periods of time? does it overheat? Also how do you install windows on it? (are you using that Dual-boot feature i heard about)
If you install windows on it, that negates most of your reasons for wanting a Mac. Its no longer giving you the "benefit" of iOs. Also, the ultra books all have ssd drives also, this is not an exclusive Mac feature. Make sure you purchase it directly from a Mac store, otherwise they fuck you around with warranty. Also, they only have passive cooling, so heating can be an issue after longer periods, though generally it will be OK unless you live in a warmer climate. On mobile...
working nonstop aroud 1 year - very noisly..more noise eventhen from my decktop PC...win installed with boocamp...macos - fully deleted)
you need boot camp to install windows on your mac. Mac 101: Using Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp you can chose within the boot sequence if you wish to start windows for playing wow or mac for everything else you wish to do. DualBoot is - as far as i know - only for installing mac os 10 and 11 or something like this. if you want to know more read: Mac 101: Using Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp
Mac reminds me of Alienware... and we all know what happened to them (they sold themselves to Dell, the ones that sell PCs for cheap...)
Ok so even if i have a mac, i could install WoW and Honorbuddy on the windows portion of my harddrive (while in windows mode) and it would work? thats great. Also my reason for getting a mac is that they seem safer against viruses, i have some kind of keylogger on my computer and AVG (paid version) cant even detect it.... im hesitating between maybe getting a used macbook pro or getting a refurbrished bacbook air (699$ on apple online store) Has anyone tried the new ultrabooks from Dell or HP those would be my other options, or plan B if you like.
the macbook virus excuse is soon gone, virus writers are targetting the Ignorant and they're now lots of viruses for the mac. a mac is nice if you have the money to waste but if you want something affordable go for windows, although most of the times mac users use dual-boot which i just have to laugh at... told this kid that whats the point in getting mac if your just dual-booting into window, we all laughed.
My girlfriend bought a HP laptop and the thing within 1 week would start constantly crashing and slowed down dramatically (im not sure what model but she paid well over 1000$ for it) What im saying is that i just want a quality product, maybe someone has some good ideas to suggest that would look as nice and well done as the apple laptops? im considering the Dell XPS 13 wich seems pretty damn impressive and looks really pretty. (and they offer intrest free 12 month financing wich is a nice plus) Any other suggestions?
Dell XPS 13 really overpriced atm because they bringing out the TV Adverts, it should go down in the coming months... I would get an i7, laptops are all about the CPU so get a good one.
Such a stupid idea, cant do anything else then laugh about people buying a mac but installing windows. IF you like OSX ok and want to spend twice as much money as a windows laptop costs then go ahead. But if you install Windows on you Macbook it costs you twice as much and has no difference from any other laptop out there.
main reason i need windows on a mac is to run honorbuddy. if it wasnt for that i would get a mac. im actually pondering the idea of leaving this computer on 24/7 with honorbuddy and just use my mac for whatever else i need to do. Only worry i have if i bought a windows laptop its that they seem to slow down and overheat alot. ive had about 3 laptops in the past 5-6 years and they all started messing up after 6 months. slowing down, overheating, crashing, many problems, but maybe ultrabooks will be different?
