Nice to know if your planning to level with it, atleast from outlands and out. Yes it does. A friend told me yesterday that he got 150 xp for a single gather in burning crusade, don't know the exact char level
does it scale with player level or node's required mining/herb skill ? Also do you still get experience for lets say Tin Deposit while your mining skill is maxed?
Yeah, now it's down to who makes the most amazing Cataclysm profile for HB, not GB IMO. Just grind and if you see a node, grab it. Bonus XP, but who knows how it compares to kills at that level?

If someone has time and cash to blow, power lvl mining with ore at lvl 1 to 75 and mine the best ore available like gold ore (yes it will be tough to get to one at lvl 1) and then subsequently from lvl 1 - w/e the next lvl required for 75-150 and then power lvl with ores to 150 and then do iron, then respective lvl for 150-225 power level mine mithril, etc 300 fel iron, 375 cobalt, 450 titanium.. just to see what the MAX for lowest level that it can be farmed at... might be able to "power"level your char that way. Instead of seeing if they scale with lvl or ore/herb check with both Tonight I will spend a long time testing this and making a graph for xp/lvl/herb/high and low end
It seems as though you dont really start getting xp thats comparable to killing mobs or more until after 70.
It's not granting you XP to create a new leveling path. It's granting XP based on the time it takes to herb/mine a node, and the XP is based on how many mobs you could kill during that period of time. If you guys are looking to level this way, I think you are going to be sorely disappointed. That being said, I think any new toon I create in Cata will start with mining/herbalism just to make money anyway, and this is just a (small) bonus.
I just started leveling my mining, Lvl 78 DK I got 10xp for copper, My friend Lvl 27 palla also got 10 xp from copper!
