Hey All I wanted to talk about some more recent bans that happend in the US among my team. My team mate got nocked out today on 5/6 ip ban only one not banned was 1/2 sleepers that had never logged on from the same IP/mac and machine but was in the guild. 1st off they are all paid accounts some digital some retail. 2nd Every account was using diferent custom xml scripts from gb2 / grind for farming. 3. All accounts were ran using unique virtual windows on power house pc's running 5 or more accounts at once. So I started digging because well this is costing me and my team money and I ran into something off another site many highly respected mods and users use that talked about where blizard is water marking and sending screen shots back to there servers that actually contains a whole bunch of our information. Because I don't want to break HB's tos i am not going to link the thread nor mention the site by name but sugest googling "Looking inside your screenshots " and you will find a welth of knowlage on the subject. Turns out acording to the researchers every ingame screen shot has this info in it that includes your IP, your game client version , server , toon name , guild and many other stats including your battle.net info. There are many red flags with this because this is not in there TOS for one and what gives us the user the power to fight back. It is worth noteing now that this "code" has been dissected and if you ever posted a screen shot on the web all your info is there to be data mined by the scamers! The Authors clame it exsists from patch 2.0 up to curent. It seems there might be a work around by using /console SET screenshotQuality "10" It is keep secret what bliz actually does but if you search you will find lots of info on this subject and if they do anything like fairplay well this would explane alot like. 1. why everyone doesn't get banned at the same time (hb detection) 2. why whole farms get nocked out when running vwm's and prx's 3. How they could casually send back client info including running programs In closing I love HB and the former clients that were used I hope the comunity stays strong but insted of pointing fingers and blaming bosslands kick or anyone else I think we as a community should try and help figure out why so many long time users and people who do this for a living are getting nocked out as easlly as the guy who is just running lazy raider. Also after reading the info i think it is a must to rename your HB client and also retag its description something that is a little more complex to do in order to combat the chance of water marking info being sent to there servers. Please let me know your thoughts and any info you have on the subject. Be safe my HB'rs
Thankyou for bringing it up. The point has been made before but I do consider that a friendly reminder doesn't hurt. Thanks you for the info .
The watermark info is old news, but what I don't understand. Why would watermark have anything to do with HB bans ? Are you posting screenshots of yourself botting or ? Everything you do in WoW is logged, and logs are stored don't remember if it was for 3 or 6 months. Blizz can't legaly check what processes you are running alongside WoW (They can but if they use that info against someone they will be sued to hell and back). Renaming your process or not doesn't matter.
bullshit. it (MAYBE) had server and your numerical account name imbedded. incredible bullshit in any case what does this have to do with botting? nothing you wrote makes a lick of sense. you think their method for detecting gatherbuddy is taking secret screenshots? what for, they already know your account and IP and server, you are connected to them ffs. how does renaming HB help with screenshots?
*puts on tinfoil hat* Maybe a single screenshot doesn't contain enough condemning info, but what about a bunch of screenshots ? Maybe that's why they don't ban straight away, but after a while. They need more screenshots. After all, no matter where in the world you live, you will have a very hard time preventing a company from taking screenshots of its own game, and even harder times convincing a court that yes, this company must disclose fully the intention, purpose and information sent in encrypted form with those screenshots. Most legal systems put the burden of proof on the accuser, so if you try accusing Blizzard of doing something illegal, you must also come up with decrypted screenshots, which should expose enough compromising evidence against Blizzard. You can't simply run to your nearest court office and scream "Mr.Judge, make them tell me what they are hiding in these screenshots. I am afraid." *takes tinfoil hat off*
