So question is as says above; what is the next punishment in store for any account that was caught in the 6 month banwave? I've seen some conflicting reports on the ban report page, some have been permanently banned some have only received 72 hour bans.

Most haven't, is my guess. I'm just curious about those who have been touched. I do not believe Honorbuddy to be detectable by Blizzard through legal means, therefore I do not believe I will get banned as soon as I launch HB on my banwave account, I just want to know if I will receive a permanent ban or a suspension the next time I get caught. It's probably individual and depends on what GM bans you, if based on reports. I just wanted to see someone report they weren't permanently banned to give me courage to jump back in :p

The answer is noone can answer that. Blizz is not set in their ways. Some angry GM may permanently ban you or some lenient GM may give you a suspension. Either way, you won't know its coming until you are hit with whatever action they see fit for your account.

permanently banned here on day one first sign in. Honorbuddy is not safe at all, what I reakon or blizzard are just 100% watching my IP address as both my accounts banned. even when my other account didnt bot much and was just banned with my other account so idk its a bit fishy and weird.

Why are people still hanging on to these accounts, buy another account and continue botting.

So you think blizzard broke the law to get us all last time? /rolls eyes

I just lost my 5th and 6th account since 5/13. Def not detectable by legal means though. I wasn't dumb enough to bot on the 6/mo accounts though so I couldn't say. They were always fresh/new.

Finished this tier a few weeks ago so while it would be nice to flash around my title for a bit longer - I'm now done. Gonna enjoy my consoles for the first time in ages and wait for Pantheon beta next year.

Personally, we believe Giwin is spot on with this advice. We weighed in with similar sentiments several months ago.

Unlike May, any recent bans are not due to client-side detection.

      cheers & be safe, all.

Is exactly what I'm doing, not going to touch my main with the bot in a long while. Currently leveling 2 characters with Kicks on 2 accounts. Enjoying the experience so far, the most expensive experiment I've ever done in WoW.

One is currently 95 and the other 70.

One thing about your tinfoil theory doesn't quite add up. If they wanted us to buy Legion/Game Time on the 6-month banwave accounts, why would they wipe the gold? It would encourage a lot more people to continue playing both with and without bots if the gold was left untouched, and would make it easier to ban them in greater numbers later. Buying tokens only earns them more profit.

Can you explain this further-- you suspect that Blizz will permaban all previously 6-mo tagged accounts after they've put more cash into the game, even if they don't continue botting?

Anything anyone says on this matter is purely speculation. Chinajade admitted himself that it's a "tin-foil hat" idea and nothing more. You can interpret what anyone says here any way you want, but none of the speculation will be proven unless it actually happens.

You can either quit, live in fear or just keep on botting as normal. If you're going to stress over losing your account constantly, just quit and make your life a little less stressful.

I don't seem them banning the account a few months later if you quit botting cold turkey, especially once you bought the expansion.

Everything is pure theory (post even says so), I just don't see Blizz pulling this stunt if you stopped botting since May.

But do you guys found out how it happened in May? Or they can easily do that again? I was botting since Cataclysm and first time got banned at May, in the 6 month banwave. I never botted bg, 90% of the time I use rotation bots and if I put it to grind or gather, I am 100% monitoring it. So only way to get caught is by Blizzard detect the Honorbuddy, which didn't happened since cataclysm..

So the question is, did you found out how they got you? If I am going to bot again, at least I would like to know if Blizz need to work again to find how to detect honorbuddy or if they can just switch a button and detect it again like they did that 6 months ago.

They wont tell us that for security reasons. If they found out why and how, and plugged that hole they sure don't want Blizzard to find out therefore they can't tell us. Telling us = Telling Blizzard. They did state just after the banwave in May that they did not know how the detection occurred; so most likely Blizzard caught Honorbuddy on our machines illegally. A stunt they can't pull off often, because if discovered they might end up having massive legal action taken against them.
