Hello everyone, I have noticed something in the past few months of botting. Forgive me if I have made a mistake in posting on the forum, I am new here.

Today I ran into a group of players, who were going from area to area reporting bots farming crystals and shards. I was able to avoid them thinking I was a bot because I replied to them when whispered. I was friendly and polite, and played ignorant of what botting was. By doing so, I got some valuable information that I wanted to share!

Here is a list of what I gathered from them, as to what gives it away (botting)

      1. Having gear of various levels.
      2. Botting shards/crystals 24/7 (obvios right?)
      3. AFK botting (not responding to tells)
      4. The repeated routes in travel, unavoidable, but I thought I should mention.
      5. Only having mining or gathering jobs leveled.

      SOLUTION:

What I did, was make custom profiles that farm shards in areas other than the popular profiles on the forum. I also started farming other materials that have a high value on the market. You can see what is popular/selling by clicking the demand icon!

If enough people want, ill upload my profiles.

-Another thing I noticed was botters reporting bots. There was this one guy who was screaming "bot bot bot" and "REPORTED" to me. I noticed that he was also a bot, he always is online and only has mining leveled up.

      Hope this helps,
      -Seroix

      Thanks for the heads-up!

Also, I hate it when other botters report bots. That's just bad mojo.

well GM usually always investigate 2 ways, if they are botting and they reporting you, chances are they gonna get investigate by GM too, so yea, but i agree i hate that shit too. You can either set your status to /busy or just switch to a dps class, q up for like bahamut 24man raid with like D language setting option, so it would last for you a very long time with a joining a duty finder icon over head so people think you are active

I keep my status as /busy 24/7; I may get reported, along with the 5000 other legitimate players that mine on busy and ignore the people trying to hunt bots, but Square Enix ignores those reports because they simply don't have the man power to investigate them all. The only reason N Than gets hit is because it is more obvious, and the reports for each individual end up being much greater (more like 20 reports for a player in N Than vs 2 or 3 for mining).

If you read the official forums, you'll notice a pattern; the same players will keep complaining that they report the same people for botting for months with nothing being done about them. Eventually those players give up, but the botting miner rarely ever gets any attention from SE themselves.

I've seen people saying they have begun to report for harassment instead of *****ing, which causes the GM to investigate in-person asap, whereas if they select report *****ing it goes to their investigative team which are lumped into the wave bans.

That's just someone trying to screw you into filing a false harassment report then laugh at you when you get banned. The first thing that happens when you make a Harassment report is the GM pops on and asks you to explain the situation. As soon as the GM realizes you filed it to get a botter investigated, you get either warned about abuse or suspended for 3 days for abusing the system. After that, further abuse of the system gets you permabanned. Remember, for every fake harassment report filed, you risk that GM missing his chance at being able to stop a real and serious case of harassment.
