Hello, I was not sure where to start this topic. My story is, I have been botting for over 5 months and last 3 months it is like *non-stop*. I have never been banned or warned, I only use gatherbuddy. I live in a dorm and bot always works on a separated account and on a separated computer. during this 5 months, when I left my bot open for a nght, 3 mornings I have seen a whisper like `hello bot` (first whisper was maybe like 5months ago). I was afraid to get banned, and actually I was sure that I will get it and I started farming more and more right before getting banned. I collect materials and put them to guild bank, in my guild there are 4 characters and 3 of them from my main account. The guild bank is the way that I transfer materials to my main account but to an alt character (so in this way I never have more than 100 auctions with a character) . I always sell goods with a character from my main account and dont keep gold in gbank. Actually I dont care if my bot account will get ban, my concern is my main account. Would you please tell me if I am doing something wrong and if my main account can get banned? P.S my 2 computers does not share connections. My mains gets internet from my room and the other one gets it from the next building, I use separated internet connection. P.S2 I dunno if it matters but I 90% use mobile armory to sell goods on AH.
Its fine if you x-fer materials via guildbank, but the best is if you use COD, even if your bot is member of your guild! Regarding the botting/shuffling/cashing-out schemes, better check the forum, there is dozens of decent methods described out there, take something from this and that, and make your own unique way to do it. Do not follow cookie-cutter "ways", they usually are not the best for each individual. And last word - adopt! Never fear to change, with the market, with Blizzard, or the goldbuyers, with anything!
You've been very lucky, OP... seems you're doing something right. Personally I look at it this way - if you act like you don't have something to hide, then it seems like you have nothing to hide. I use two accounts (different computers, same IP). This isn't against Blizz ToS (even though they're on different BNet accounts). My 2nd account with one 90 sits at the AH all day and handles most of my auctions that are hot on the AH (cut panda gems and MoP glyphs). This particular toon also snipes the AH with TSM. Occasionally I send her out to gather mats if the prices go up reaaaally high, which she'll gather for around two hours, come back, and mail or guild bank the mats. I had a gather ban-turned-suspension on the second account about a month ago after I was greedy with a private profile I ran myself. My main account is all tradeskillers, and the only bot I run with them is a PB prospect/mill/inkerator profile to help break the mats down. On my main, I probably have 3000 auctions between all of my toons. I freely mail mats/gold between the two accounts, because again, I have nothing to hide. The way I look at it, I'm not explicitly breaking any Blizz rules by doing what I do. Yes, I use a bot to help me out with tedious tasks, but I can do the same thing with TSM Destroy and an auto mouse click program (which I also use). I'm not trying to be super sneaky or cunning, and I never act like I'm doing something "wrong". This is just my method, and whether or not it gets me slapped in the future is up to Blizz. If you have a second account that only farms and mails mats, and that's the "standard" for bots, Blizz will see that it's a trend and those who follow these guidelines will definitely be suspect. Srs said it right by advocating "doing your own thing".
That's the point in sending whispers like that... many people who bot are dicks and want the spot for themselves, so they scare of other botters by sending whisps and stuff. Yes, they'll even go as far as to report you. If you ever get something like this, sometimes it's best to give them what they want and lay low for a few days in case a GM decides to investigate.
I've gotten tells like that when I wasn't even botting lol, some people are mad greedy, like you are taking something that will never respawn or doing something that is completely infringing on them and what they're doing, 99% of the time it isnt
