Alright im not very experienced in exactly how HB works, but the patch blues thread located here http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorbuddy-forum/honorbuddy-guides/108771-help-desk-3.html#post1190361 mentions something about the bolts dont line up anymore. other bots actually use different methods of botting and while i have botted with HB for long periods of time without ever getting banned, while being called a botter a few times, there are things in wow that just stay the same. im just wondering by using the "backdoor" that HB uses to access WoW, could there by chance be another door that doesnt change every patch? something to look into for warlords release i guess, seeing as how every new expansion the bot is down for a few weeks and while the raw material prices are VERY high in the beginning, they drop sharply by the time the bot is online again. im not here to criticize, as our devs are doing a GREAT job.
The reason the bot is down is because they test it to make sure wardan doesnt catch it. Its not as simple as the combat bot from ownedcore where it just needs the offsets. When the xpac lands and flying wont be ava tell the patch, that will cut down on the botting, grind bots will be what we will use and lots will most likely be banned
It's not that a back door is changing, it's that the memory offsets that HB reads values from WoW (like the offset for your mana percentage, for example) have a tendency to change locations. As an example, the player class offset: Code: <PlayerClass>0xEA2545</PlayerClass> The 0xEA2545 is a location in memory where your class can be read. Each patch, that location changes and has to be found. Then the core has to be updated and tested. Any new security features or unknown code in WoW has to be explored for new security measures, etc. HB uses a few hundred (last I heard) offsets, so it takes a while to update.
Have faith in the HB team, they work insanely hard to produce a client which is always safe, is usually up and working at least in Beta within 2/3days and they always keep us updated with their progress (check forum home for Announcements). I have nothing but praise for the hard work for the HB crew.
What would be great is to have the CombatRoutines work after a patch update. If you'r thinking of other bots that's mainly what they do. So find the offsets, post a pre-release with only the CombatBot/LazyRaider available. Just thinkig with you guys on the matter. I do happen to think you guys are allready doing a nifty job at 'c r a c king the blizzard code' and getting this to work.
As the devs have stated, they don't want to this just because they are charging for a product and will NOT release anything until they are sure there is no way for Warden (and friends) to detect HB after a patch... offsets is just a small part of it really.
