With posts like this one and this one (which I believe both were honest mistakes)... 1. Is there any way that the forum rules can be posted a little more prominently? By prominently, I mean as an integral part to the main forum listing page. Nothing requiring 'bumping' or reader research. A little use of the color red would also probably be appropriate. Right now, the Forum rules are the *third* sticky post down, in a forum innocuously called "Announcements". Might they be moved to part of the banner introducing the forums that says: "Welcome to the WOW Bot for PVP Leveling Gathering - Gatherbuddy & Honorbuddy Forums." To someone that hasn't been in the community long, things like "private servers", "gold swap requests", "server names", and so forth don't seem harmful. Most Forums put forum rules out front, and require no digging. Unfortunately here, many have to learn the hard way. 2. Present the rules in a more formal/hard-nosed fashion--since that's how you enforce them. Here is an example. Right now, the way they are written, they feel like "please try to refrain from this", when you actually mean "these are bannable/mutable offenses". A minor justification for each rule would help those new to the Community understand why the rule exists, and why its important to follow. This is even more important being a multi-cultural/multi-lingual forum. Many cultures take formality of presentation as a 'seriousness' cue. A little more formality may help this out. The overall idea is to keep the community safe by knowing solidly where the boundaries lie. And to lighten the load on forum moderators so they can be off to more productive tasks. I believe this can be accomplished by a simple relocation and better presentation of the existing Forum rules. Just an idea, take it or leave it. cheers, CJ
To be honest I didn't even realise those two rules were in play. For some reason I dont link rules being in announcements so I never thought to look in there.
