I had my main acc banned a few months ago and recently got it back. I decided to re-think my strategies a little, and be smarter about my botting. With all the talk of mass banning and GB2 detection I thought would be an interesting experiment to see if I would be banned again. People always tend to look at their own activities through rose coloured glasses after getting banned. Like "oh, i was only botting 2 hrs at a time for a few hrs a day" blah blah blah but most of the time it's a lot more than that, it's full afk'd and most are running popular profiles at peak hour times during the day and in my opinion are getting reported by players rather than getting stung with bot detection. I was guilty of this myself so I decided to run a little test and see if Blizzard truly were detecting GB2 or whether the so called "ban wave" was just people getting greedy, complacent or just plain lazy (or just incredibly unlucky which is possible). Since then I've been botting on two accounts. I bot 1-3 hours on one account, using a custom profile that takes a long route through a few zones which 3/4 fills my bags in that time, then I log for a couple of hours and bot the other account for the same amount of time on a different profile/route. I do not bot during peak server hours, which for me is 6pm - 11pm server time and I always keep an eye on the bot for stuck or whispers. Just a brief look every know and then is fine. Most importantly I do not use the bot to prospect ore or mill herbs and I do not sell my gold. So far, I've been doing this for six weeks and it's been absolutely fine. Not a single whisper or report, to my knowledge. So with a little patience and some basic fundamentals you still should be fine using GB2 in my opinion. If I get banned any time soon I'll let you all know.
It works differently when you are running more than 6 accounts. You are more prone to bans, even if you rethink your whole life.
Mind if I ask the reason you gave that convinced them to reactivate it and how long was it banned for?
