Like a lot of people, I got the standard "This account is suspended for 6 Months blah blah - November 13th date email from Blizzard, but I noticed that my Account Info page shows the red BANNED tag on the actual account, similar to the one I lost in the PQR Banwave. Is this normal? I could swear they usually said "Suspended" for all other suspensions, but my guess was that their webpage doesn't account for anything longer than 72 hours, especially given that this was a new thing. I do NOT want to waste an email asking a GM to verify because the appeal window is short and I'd rather wait for things to quiet down. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

EVERYONE have Banned on their accounts in the Account management.

It was discussed before, that in Blizzard's terms, Suspension means Out of the game for up to 14 days, and Ban means out of the game up from 14 days to permanent.

At least that is what the webpages were coded to show.

I didn't realize that 14 days was the cut off. Thanks for clarifying.

the rumor is that blizz never planned for 6 month bans so the code isn't there to support it. which is plausible since we have not heard of 6m bans before a couple months ago.

      Nah :(

      There is two possibilities:

Either they decided to act with much more tolerance to the botting casuals, attempting fight with the lost subscription numbers, aka suspend those botters for 6 months instead of Perma ban them. It is still harsh, but the most of them would obtain second copy of WoW to continue their usual activities, and they would definitely renew their old accounts after 13th of november too.

Or they just made a new step in the account action pyramid, with 6 months suspension between 72 hours suspension and Account Closure penalties.

My theory is that with this new 6 Month penalty, they're going to start using that as the new "First offender" sentence for botting in general, and reserve the older 72 hour bans for things such as language, threats, etc. It would make absolutely no sense for them to only use this 6 month penalty for one HB banwave now, and revert back to 72 hour sentences for botting later on. Then again, this is Blizzard we're talking about here. No way to really know.
