5.1 is here and after all the time to get things right, we are still without profiles that successfully complete daily quest routes. Literally all the creators seem to have abandoned the projects only after an initial release. All of my private profiles work except for Anglers since I haven't messed with them yet. The concern is how the community seems to be getting flooded with bad profiles and just general junk across the forums. I wish we could go back to how things were ages ago with proper profiles specifically tested and built around a closed community where we could share them without having "leechers" or "pay to download" issues, I really had more fun then working with people and discussing things.
You missed the point my leecher friend. we have a closed community already here on the forums, you just don't see it due to SVN / PM Sharing. The point is based around the "Open" side of things and how many others have been discussing the issues concerning it for some time now. Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure what your talking about. I run 99% of my daily quests on 8 90s via freely available profiles....do your homework before posting such stuff. The problem will be the lots of small fee's for many different profiles with little or no guarantee the author even sticks with it. That will be the problem...
My Daily quests work. -.- only thing is I have to do a clean install of HB each time. Your calling people leechers and complaining about bad profiles? Learn to code them yourself if you aren't happy with what we have created already.
Please read carefully. I already create my own work and have been for years, along with sharing them with community members that are trusted. You are taking the statement out of context. but thanks for the reply none the less.
yep, either have an all open source community or be open to people paying for work (and not just releasing a crappy one for free), atm it's grey area and most people can't be bothered any more unless there just practicing coding their c#, there is a real difference between the previous bot sites. most of the time it was X,Y,Z with some functions in a profile which wasn't that great but it got people making profiles since it was really easy and simple to understand, if you took a look inside a PB profile you'll probably start crying (even though PB profiles are awesome ofcourse)... they also won't go back to X,Y,Z waypoint system which is understandable but as a result of it not being simple the result is as you see with the lack of profiles. make it easy to make profiles and have in-built profile builder, simple GUI "next next finish" as our software group used to say.
I don't understand... You are saying that profiles sucks, people asking money for their work is bad, yet you kept your stuff private from the beginning. Is this a joke?
I think what the OP meant to say is there is a lack of quality profiles. Sure there are tons of them but like he said most just post and abandon them. However, they are free. I never started making paid profiles until recently and still release quality free profiles to keep my awesome fans happy. My paid work is what keeps me going. A donation is like getting a flask of stamina. It keeps me going and knowing people like my work and appreciate it. I will always be here as long as I am using Honorbuddy. I was approached by Bossland and asked to work on the buddy sites so it is clear people notice my work and creativity. I think that is what is lacking most in the community. I also believe in putting effort in to demand effort out. If you make private profiles for yourself, make some public and be the spark of your beliefs for the community. This goes for anyone who thinks the community lacks in any way.
Basically this, You are complaining to other people, about what you YOURSELF have been doing. You are nothing better then those asking money for profiles/plugins. If you really want to contribute, and really think you are a better person, then share your profiles aswell, if their so good that is.
The odd thing is I dont see anyone demanding money. I see people like myself who make paid profiles but nothing is forced on anyone. However I also sport over 20 free Pandaria profiles alone that are all very well reputable and enjoyed by alot of people. I do occasionally see some people try to slip a paid link on the forums but it never lasts long.
Several people are putting a lot of effort into their profiles, regardless of how you may feel about the quality. You're here complaining and reminiscing about times gone by, all the while enjoying everything that used to be. The rest of us who can't code for any number reasons make due with what we have and appreciate those who will provide it. If I want a private profile made, I'll pay someone to do it. When I send Paypal donations I don't say who its from, because it shouldn't matter (haha good one, right?). nThis info is just for the inevitable "leecher" response. I don't really get this "concern" for the community you claim to have. I suggest you go back to your PM and complain there.
I find it funny to see an old timer sad to see the lack of quality free profiles while he and his friends enjoy quality ones, while i bet some of his friends sell the same profiles for 10 bucks for the public. Or not, but they could, thats the point. You buy a product, HB, thinking you are buying a complete package and in fact you are buying your way into a social experience, while the core of the innerworks take a long time to be updated and people do not get traten with respect (no information) about when stuff is going to work. See the difference in the way the Tuanha Paladin CC works and gets updated (daily almost) and the Navigation in the HB works. OMG its a magnitude of difference of work/dollars/euro/programming. I'll go on. Everyone and their dog knows you can buy a profile, its in everyone's face, you pay sometimes almost the price of HB for them. I won't bash HB anymore, hear me out. I see kicks and other core people on other devs doing other non-wow related stuff around the site and all, it seems they are very busy, i get it. And i bet HB sells very well. Big question: Why thell doesn't HB costs twice, triple, and WORKS? Freaking put people to work on the stuff? Its been 2 months and quest bot is broken, HB profiles like the BG ones are asking to be reported (everyone marching together, etc). Every time someone questions HB quality, someone jumps in and says its cheap. And ill tell you, i'll agree. Its does a crapton of stuff for its price. Or it was supposed to. Take my money already but do what you are supposed to do. ps.: Before someone come telling they leveled 148 chars to 85 and never had problems, try to do it afk NOW. Thanks.
What is sad to see is the amount of people who has started releasing semi quality CRs in order to force people to "donate" to get the "Special donators edition". Problem is; HB team has already stated you're not allowed to do so, but do they do anything to change it? Nope, cause then some devs will/might stop developing and then HB has even less developers
I wouldn't mind paying for some of their profiles and whatnot, But they ask stupidly high prices. Gatherits is probably the most reasonable, but still on the high side, but im cool with that because it keeps them secluded. But $30 for a combat routine is just ridiculous.
Ya I definitely agree with the first part of your response that it's a bit stupid to force people to donate just because they want the PvP part of a specific CR for example. But about the second part, if the HB devs reworked the wiki and added more and correct up to date info and documentation then I'm sure a lot more people would make more 'quality' profiles because they don't have to learn by constantly making mistakes and picking up bad habits. I gotta say props to those who actually made guides for writing profiles and CR's etc. but @ the OP if you think that the profiles are not up to scratch why don't you contribute your knowledge in a well written guide and I am sure that a lot more good profiles will crop up. Then again in regards to the profiles that are being pushed out and not maintained, well it's a game, something that may be popular today will not really be needed tomorrow so why maintain a profile which isn't used? On top of saying that, if you don't like a profile then don't use it. I'm using some public profiles that do pretty much all my dailies afkable and sorry that I can't remember the name of the creators but they are keeping it up to date and adding more features weekly. Alpha
CnG explicity said asking for donations is allowed, as long as there is a working, free to access version attached to the thread (as for CRs).
I don't get it. I use a few profiles that are absolutely amazing for daily quests. If you're looking for a profile that is 100% AFKable then you should look elsewhere. Dailies are heavily populated by people which increase the chances of people determining that you are a bot.
