Hello, people, Yet I turn to your advice again. As we all know from psychology, people judge books by the cover, hence the very first impression about your character is not only its clothes, but its name. If we see some hero running around same nodes with a RNG generated nick like XHJGSTDAS, we 100% know he is botting. And people report such a foolish brother. So, speaking about this knowledge and how it can proof our character from unwanted reports resulting in permaban sooner or later, I guess we have to share our knowledge about the nicknames for our toons which may help protect against reports. For example, I think that the best name for the botting char would be a denial. Perfect names should include: Iamnobot, Stopbotting, Bothunter, Reportyou. I.e. in the name we should at most deny our botting nature while maintaining the threat to the cheating player. After all if we scream out loud we hate thieves, people actually will believe we are descent low abiding citizens. What do you think? Please give suggestions as to perfect report-proof name in the comments!
Why on earth would a name that's denial be good ? In my opinion no normal player would name their character like that for the simple fact that people normally want to "like" their name. Some people like fun names, some people like RP names, some people like fantasy names whatever.. I even think stuff like "Stabyoulol" would look less botty then "Omgurdimabothuntard!". So my vote is serious names, i always try to think like it would be one of my own characters on my main account. Sure it'll take you a few minutes to come up with a good name you like, but it wouldn't be different then any of the names you would give to your main or alts. With them not being any different i don't think there is a psychological way on breaking down your name to even assume your a bot. Curious what others think ^^ EDIT: What i think people would judge you on the most is gear.. Not gear as in ilvl, but decent gems/chants etc. No normal player would run in epics without gemming and enchanting them (Sure some kids of the age of 5 do, but they wouldn't be farming anyways) So in my opinion, yes people judge a book by their cover, i just think you're focusing on the title, not the look of the cover. Just my 2 cents
I don't even look at names, no reason to. If someone's going to report you for botting, all they have to do is target you, right click your portrait and report you. If I was going to report someone, I could care less what their name is. The best name you can come up with is one that you like and is available on your server. You're the only person that will really care what the name is and you're the one that has to live with the name. If you want to avoid getting whispered about your name, it should be as plain as possible, not use any pop culture references and shouldn't cause anyone to think about you in any way. Drawing attention to your name by even mentioning botting, whether it be in a positive or negative connotation, is a good way to get people to start watching your actions, or to whisper you, which is exactly what you want to avoid when you're botting. Being as inconspicuous as possible is your best strategy when botting. If I were a GM, and I saw a report for a player named "notabot" that was reported for botting, you'd be the very first character I chose to investigate and ban. Your blatant hypocrisy is a great way to get yourself used as an example.
So basically if I already leveled an Undead Hunter with a name Imnotabot to lvl 60, do you think I should pay for name change or even re-roll a new character just not to draw anyone's attention I used to be Imnotabot?
In my opionion, yes, I would change the name, but it's up to you. I think you'll find your reverse psychology is having the reverse affect of what you were planning.
If you`ve named your char imnotabot, i would report you immediately if I see you farming a single ore/herb. :-D But botters don`t report botters.... So I won`t of course. Honestly, naming your bot char like that is just stupid. Just delete it and reroll
My bots have just general names you'd find everywhere, most are very clich?... makes you believe a 11 year old kid is playing it. ( helpfull in some cases ) Only thing I avoid is using real names for your bots, sometimes people that have the same irl name will whisper you because of it. happy botting!
Normal people playing the game are not thinking of bots every time they see another character, by having a denial of being a bot in your name, makes you seem like a botter who just doesn't give a crap, perhaps even ignorant. plus it makes people who don't normally think of bots think of bots and watch your character more closely, you might as well of just named your toon, "Iamabotreportme"
That is the most ignorant comment ever. Don't lie. OT: If I wasn't a botter myself I wouldn't look at the name to see if he was botting (unless it is something extremely obvious like ''FDGFDSD''). I wouldn't bother paying for the namechange, that's a bit extreme. However, I would advice to use ''normal'' names in the future, not (read barely) everybody falls for the reversed psychology trick.
If it was me. I would just name your toon a normal name. Stay away from the words like: Bot, Farmer, I am not (insert anything here) *. They all draw attention. As one of the other poster stated you just want to blend in with everyone. I would say use the random generator to create your name that WOW provides so that just a generic name like type in Johndoe and hit randomize. You do want to also avoid the names like wxfechedske because they are not names normal people would use most people put alittle thought into names. This is the toon name you are going to be represented by and everyone knows you by. The main way from keeping from being reported is watch your bot. If your bot is ninjaing the same guys node you may want to break away for a bit and also do not use the ninja the node mode. Let them have it so that you can continue botting and he will not see the need to report you because you are playing nice.. You have to play human like. Most people if they see someone on a node will just move to the next one and not try and drop in and steal there node. Just my thoughts.
what about "ReleaseanupdateforHBulazyfucks? I like that one. Or "BlowitoutyourassHBdevs" Lololol hehe
omg bro you made me laugh out loud soooooo hard i love you Iamnobot = ROFL ... that name sounds like a chinese botter. I am no bot. It's like you're screaming I AM A CHINESE BOTTER, while thinking in your mind, 'no one will know what I'm up to. I'm so smart'
i actually felt a bit of wee come out after reading this thread, thank you for the entertainment +1 rep
Name him MrNiHao no chance in hell you will get banned. eerm , what... Ni Hao (A Gold Farmers Story) - YouTube OT: Names mean shit, if your a legit player and cant spot a bot from miles away with theyre retarded 90 degree turning movement even when flying, you have to be a. drunk or b. 12 and just shoved a bottle of coke down ur throat. Lets face it, most around you bot, most dont even care about it no more. People asking questions about hb in trade allr. Saw the forums, but trade??? O yer, and others are responding seriously. Blizz only cares if they see player reports. If not, nothing happens. This is a 13 euro game atm, nothing more. And will not ever become more. So name it everything you want, if someone spots you and hits you up, your done anyway.
