So I woke up this morning to check my miner. I ran Tony's Icecrown profile overnight and my bags were almost full. Than I realized I received a whisper which is not unusual because goldsellers send those generic whispers overnight. However, this one was strange. It read "Hi, are you there xxxxx?". So first thing I thought was somebody messaging me to run a dungeon or do a quest or something but then I realized there was a "," in the msg which players usually don't care about correct grammer. To top it all I checked the char name who messaged me in armory and it didn't come up in armory. So I am thinking maybe a GM whisper? What do you think? Account is still active but I am thinking about laying low for a while.
If its a logging program try to get one that can distinguish between a gm and a player whisper. From my knowledge you can't armory a GM but they don't give out "normal" whispers and rather in that weird box format. Most smaller botting programs detect gm whispers and exit WoW. I am 100% sure we have a plugin for that somewhere but I am not very sure its compatible with the new update. Anyway I would just lay low for a day or two.. GMs never give me correct grammar so I shouldn't be worried.
I don't know how Blizzard runs, but I thought that if a Blizz staff member PM'd you they HAD to have their GM chat flag on, which would generally give you a special window that alerts you to a GM whispering you. At least, that's how it's always been for me when I get whispers from GMs. Also, they're speech seems really scripted and rehearsed. I've found it to be extremely rare that a GM has broken english or bad punctuation or grammatical errors. If I had to venture a quick guess I'd say it was a gold seller or something, since they didn't show up in armory that particular toon could have been deleted from the gold spammer's account. That's just my guess though, so don't take it for a guarantee on anything. If you feel say laying low, then by all means, lay low.
You don't see what they say because it's in the GM box. All it says is "A GM wishes to speak with you" and you have to click it to begin talking with them.
its just a scammer. they are trying to get your account info, i get those whispers all the time, usually trying to get you to go to some stupid webpage thats "Blizzard official" they give themselves away if you go there and read the fine print lmao. you cant armory them because armory stopped supporting low level players
I get those all the time....usually its a level 1 human warrior...and if you reply to them they ask if you wanna buy gold....so I say, "yes, I would like to buy 3gold, how much for 3g?" lol that usually shuts them up. and you wont see a lvl 1 in the armory either
Golds Sellers whispers i watched mine this morning get like 3 all started with somthing like are you there and when i reply, would get im form goldspammers etc we have a special on to which i reply i am ok thank you and they say no more it happens a good bit i bot to behonest. would not worry about it just spam
ye just a scammer i get them always dont worry if a gm whisper u see a blink a special box not just in chat
its a gold seller waiting for you to reply and then they will say they have 46.5k gold in stock would you like some....
GM's will NEVER whisper you in game (EU for sure) without the specific "A GM wishes to speak to you" window.
Goldseller, as soon you reply, you get a message asking if you want quick gold, that it has xxk in stock and bla bla bla. Received that message lots of times, first time i tough it was a GM too.
