What do we think about this?

Has anyone else noticed the odd behavior? I have NEVER seen this until around the time of the first ban wave and consistently ever since. My hp just drops to almost nothing for a half a second and goes back to normal spontaneously.

I may have even equated it to an addon or my ui had I not seen that earlier post.

What causes this? Do we know? Could it be one of their tools?

Ah I remember that thread. That was the one with the several pages long x64 flamewar started by a certain someone, right? Anyway, it never happened to me, but a comment in that thread suggested that it's caused by cross-realm zones (crossing crz/non-crz boundaries, servers joining/leaving CRZ, etc.) recalculating your gear and item level scaling, thus you drop to naked health for a moment.

In any case, it would be a poor method. Imagine someone receiving such a packet right before he decides to attack a mob. His health drops, mob kills him with one blow, result: sudden corpse run and an angry customer.

      Yes i noticed the same.
It has to do with zoning as Tarathiel2 said.
I can see this happen every day when doing the tanaan dailies.
I play on a PVP server. When i attack a player not originated from my server or a player attacks me my health drops and my CC pops all health based cooldowns.
But is this really used for detection ? You knows...

      Hi, Virtual,

The development staff is not ever going to discuss details of what might be known about a game client. Such commentary by the staff is tacitly forbidden in public forums for many very good reasons.

If commentary is needed on such topics, we suggest taking the questions to another venue. Perhaps, ownedcore.

      cheers,
      chinajade
