Well, I am getting offers of $1.00 per 1000g now. I doubt they will drop below that for now because it might be hard for them to get sellers. However, I'm interested in seeing your opinions on what you think gold will do when Cata hits. How much do you think the gold prices will spike? How long do you think the spike will last? Are you holding on to you gold right now to sell later? I wasn't active in currency sales when Wrath hit so I don't have anything to back this up but I figure we might get back to $2 or maybe $3 for Chinese sites. But I don't personally think it will last for more than two months before it drops down to current prices.
Im hoping that gold prices goes up a fair bit when Cata hits, saving some gold in order to make some extra dosh!
About 5 days ago I got $2 per k but it went down to $1.3 per k that quick. Guess I should start saving it up.
Gold selling is way more public now aswell, so that doesn't help but there you go. Edit: after contacting my resellers on various servers I can confirm that the reselling scene fucking blows now, over a 1$/k decrease in about 5 days, absolute madness.
Yeah but everyone is going to save it for Cata hoping the prices will go up so there be LOTS of gold and easy to get so it'll prolly drive the price down further = P. There's two options: Play it safe and sell your gold for current prices or Save your gold till after Cata and risk the possibility of the price going lower than current but have the chance of it going up too = P
Hey guys, yeah personaly i agree with Gimik on this one... highest ive been quoted per 1k is 0.3... I would be interested in knowing where you guys find these $1 per 1k.... any information would be greatly appreciated
i'll sell my gold for any money... i cant sell fast enough than i farm... my bot is hungry for timecards and needing money to buy more pc to bot more... Time is more valuable than any gold/money... I'll just sell everything i have... too bad my server isn't demanding much gold, ugh...
Some interesting stuff here. For gold selling to not be profitable, you would have to be spending more money on your subscription than your bots can bring in. From what I have seen, most people are making anywhere from 5,000g - 8,000g/day depending on what they farm and if they have secondary toons with professions. A straight farmer will do 4k - 5k per day. So, at current prices, say $1.00/1000g, you're looking at about $150/month per bot, IF you bot steadily 30 days straight. Then you need to subtract your WoW sub, your GB sub if you have one, and the cost of any CD keys used to sell the gold. So it is somewhere around $100 give or take. More if you sell exclusively to private buyers or have an in to a good site that buys for better prices. I'd say my numbers are pretty average though.
the website i sell to steadily buying each 1000gold for 2usd or more... nothing secret, its offgamers for me... i making around 500gold~1.5k everyday botting dunno for how many hours a day if not for the occasional dc either from my vpn or hb or wow, i dont know(i bot afk) to make it simple maths, say i getting 500gold per day, thats 30usd per month for each bot (i have 6 now)... leaving out things like bills ,HB/GB cost, computer cost, i steadily making around 180usd from my 6bots... i play EU so the cdkey and timecard is cheaper than US... a lichking account cost less than 80USD from offgamers so i still earning money from the free 30days... all this putting in mind i farmed the least gold,500gold a day and selling for lowest price 2usd per 1k... there are times where it raise up to 3usd per 1k but its been around 2usd for 3months now... i have a day job, but the extra income can be pretty worthwhile considering its just bot, i earning money even when i sleeping~ i have no plan to stop even if Blizzard banned me, i started wow only because of the money it brings...
Simple economics. Gold is easier to make, supply is increasing, demand is dropping. This drives the price down. Unless Blizzard makes it so gold is harder to obtain, there's no way you can turn the prices around with supply going up and demand staying the same or dropping. Clarification: The demand for purchased gold, not the demand for gold.
Not really accurate since you are only considering the fixed costs. What about your time to setup? Research cc's and profiles? Fix stuck bots? Manage the sale of items on the AH to make more gold? All of this time has to be part of your equation. What is your time worth? $10 an hour? $50 an hour? You'll find you're probably not making much money, in fact you're probably losing money.
ha, how I miss the days of being pissed when the price dropped to $60 per k. I loved pre and early BC, remember a whole summer of $100+ per k prices. I was sitting pretty then. I dont even sell gold, not worth it anymore.
I would only use those types of costs if I were looking at it from a business standpoint. If I, and others for that matter, were paying taxes on this income, having to cut themselves a paycheck, having to actually establish themselves an LLC or sole proprietorship. Then I might track those hours to see how much I am making. But he asked about one bot. How much can you make with one bot. Not how much money will I lose in the full set up of a bot. It may take him one day to set up his bot. He may be busy and only have an hour a day to tinker with it. So for the sake of being simple, thats the tangible costs and profit of one bot. If you want to over-analyze stuff, go figure out how much you or your parents are making per hour after spending $30,000 to $70,000 in college education, spend 13 years in public/private school, 6 years developing from an infant, toddler, to a child, and 9 months in the womb. Oh, and ask them what their time is worth to get an accurate calculation. I bet you're/they're losing money. Christ...
It all depends on who you sell to and when you sell it currently. The people complaining about only being offered $.30/k and $.40/k means that there is simply no demand by that site for your server. They will gladly pay you that even with no demand bc they can flip that easily for a 500-700% profit if not more just buy sell it it at ($1.5/k or $2/k). If they do need gold on your sever you will get quoted around $1.3/k to $2/k depending on who you sell to. Private buyers will pay more of course. From a business standpoint you would be insane to sell at the lower prices listed above and for a couple of you who said you will sell it for anything even at .3/k and .4/k you are only going to take the prices lower. If they can get it for 30 and 40cents per k why would they even take the price up? If enough people sell it at these low prices they market will only get driven down further. As for the price fluctuation happening currently track the prices on playerauctions.com it will show you the graph of goldprices. It has been this low before and it usually rebound back up to $2/k on good sites. Be patient and sell smart! I don't think cata will affect the gold price one way or another since the people holding gold to sell after will increase supply and offset the increased demand due to new armor, items, flying etc. This post is long so to sum it up BUY LOW AND SELL HIGH. With the emphasis on Sell High since we are all gold farmers here and don't but(most of us).
Also let's not forget bans, if you are barely scraping cash right now and blizzard goes all rambo on you and ban's all your account's you're screwed and personally if you are in that position now I would not bot, you're just gonna loose money. For the rest of us, well like I said, publicly gold selling is getting way more popular again, people love to show off how much they've made and this in turn make's other people think "I'll have some of that!". Also way more people bot and make gold now, cata could change everything... or not, If this is how it is going to be, the piss poor price of $0.4/k, then I am ready to move to a new game and start all over again, because that's just a joke of a price, don't know how people would sell for that much if I'm honest, considering if you're banned after selling, you've made a loss unless you're hitting 300-400k+ in one go (not likely as resellers put down price for bulk sales)
+rep for you sig, it perfectly displays the who sells the most gold in there signature battle lol, and by the looks of it you win
