I'm sure a few of us know about the pseudo items floating around WoW right?

What are the chances that the new Warden update is trying to catch the cheaters injecting fake pets into the system?

I've noticed Soul-Traders floating around the AH on a number of realms. More than normal.

Please forgive me, but, how would injecting pets into the servers prove you are a bot?

all item management is done server side, no matter how much injecting or modding you tried to do to the client theres no way to trick the server into giving it to you. like when you use a potion, when you use the potion it checks with the server and if its ok to use it, then instead of it saying "ok you can use a potion" client side, server side it just applies the health. so no, its not a very good theory.
