Ok - I don't want to be an alarmist, but it does seem that 9/22 was a ban wave (albeit a small one). I haven't seen any of the developers come out and mention that they are investigating the bot for possible detection after the multitudes of bans yesterday.

Now, after my first perma-ban about a month ago, I had a second account banned. The first one had been banned about a year before for "exploiting the economy", though I was using it to gather on, and was leveling a few toons also. Then the email came in about a month ago that the account had been perma-banned. I had been botting for ore for about 2 to 3 hours, occassionally manually stopping the bot for breaks or to gather dark soil. I was monitoring 100%. Then I was logged out, no notice (I thought that the network had blipped and I lost contact to the server). When I tried to log back in, I received both the Banned notice in the client and the email (nearly simultaneously).

So I took a few lessons away from that:

Don't bot on an account that has a guild leader (lost a couple bank guild guild leaders - luckily, I always have more than one toon per guild and from more than one a count)
Don't bot for too many hours (3 - 4 was the limit that day)
Don't bot the same zone too long
Don't pay for a bot with a 60 day game card - whoops

So, I then had a second account that had never had any action levied against it...
I leveled one toon up to 60, then started a DK. Botted it to level 90 alternating with the other toon.
I began using HBrelogger with like this:
I had the DK log in and bot in one zone for 60 mins +/-15 random mins. It would then change zones and repeat the time settings. Change zones again, and repeat the time settings. Finally, one more change in zones, and repeat the time settings. The DK was an herbalist/miner. Previous gatherers were only mining OR herbalist.
It would then log in the lower level character and level it for 2 hours +/-30 random mins.
It would then log out for up to 4 hours +/- 60 random mins.
I would repeat this cycle 2 times, then manually shut it down for a few hours (usually 6 to 9).
Both toons were using LogMeOut and BreakTaker plug-ins.

Now, this all seems very non-bot like since the timing was never exact on any of the online or offline times.

But, yesterday, this account got caught in the 10am PST ban wave and the account had been online less than an hour. No previous account violations, no notice until after the perma-ban.
Is it getting just too unsafe to use HB anymore? I thought that I was actually playing it smarter this time around, but it seems to me that the bot is getting easier to detect, not harder as the devs would believe with the rhetoric of why they are delayed with updates after a patch ("we are testing bot detectability).

How about a dev pipe in here and let the community know that they are doing something about this?

I DO appreciate the hard work that seems to go in to this bot, but I also do need some reassurances that this is not the beginning of the end.

Thanks in advance for any information that can be provided.

I don't believe in "Bad Luck", per se. Something had to trigger the GM's to monitor my account if it wasn't a sweep and HB/GB2 isn't detectable as the devs want us to believe, but the account hadn't been online a full hour, had just changed zones, and was AFK (and not moving/fighting/mining/herbing/etc) for 3 to 5 minutes at least twice. I should also tell you that the account wasn't level 90 for more than a week while using the above patterns.

There's like 5 threads about 9/22 bans. If there was a mini-ban wave, there would be at least 7.

I'm honestly surprised that there's not more bans considering the amount of people that use Honorbuddy.

7 is the threshold for a ban wave, eh? Who decided that? And the 5 threads that were started about it also included others there were banned but did not start threads of their own. Your limit of 7 also does not take in to consideration anyone that didn't report it.

And Mario, as for your input: Not very constructive or useful in any manner. Thanks for the help.

Still no Dev response in any of the forums as far as I can see.

Well, as I see that I am not getting any true support from the devs, I am done with this thread.

      Good luck. Goodbye.

You want support for what? Few people getting banned? You do realise that honorbuddy is used by thousands of people right? If there was a true banwave, server would probably crash and you couldnt even open the HB page. You got banned, move on.

My IP was flagged even before I started using HB. Apparently there are people out there who can spoof your IP address- my guess it's gold farmers/sellers. I had to go through it twice to get it whitelisted again.

Err, me, when I wanted to make fun of you for being paranoid because something bad happened to you.

As someone else noted, if there was a ban wave, there would be no doubt about it. No question. This forum and the front page would be FULL of ban threads to bursting. Where you made this thread, the main forum page, had literally one ban thread - yours.

So no, this isn't a ban wave. You are extremely paranoid because something bad happened to you. I'm sorry the bad thing happened to you. It will probably happen to us all eventually if we never stop botting. But the sky is not falling.

In my observations the last couple months have been great for botting. The amount of bans posts have been very little compared to April when everyone was experiencing them. Bottors that have just started up in the last couple years have NO idea what a real banwave is. Software detection on previous bots banned tens of thousands of accounts at one time which completely scared the crap out of everyone. Now many posts on this forum have people complaining about 7 posts created in one day?? Thousands of people use hb and to be honest you should be lucky its not 10 times worse. I have been using bots since 2006 in Wow and know that its only a matter of time before you will get banned. Hb is the most advanced bot created to date which obviously protects its users the best it can from software detection. Player reports, online scripts, lcp detecton and other methods the devs of this bot are unable to do much about them. What do you expect them to do???

Also your bans have nothing to do with the functon of the bot. Exploiting the economy has to do with how you use the bot or something that threw flags up to blizzard. Did you use a *****? Or possibly you were flagged via ip from your first ban

      hahahahahha ...
5 threads about bans and you think there is a ban wave?
What the actual fuck ? for how long have you been using WoW bots?

I remember back when glider was the main bot for WoW.. a ban wave would result in a days down time for the website.. thousands of threads at once...

It was probably some GM(s) taking care of some reports ..

Stop being so damn paranoid.. You get banned, you get banned.. you dont, then keep botting.. end of discussion..

If there were a banwave, this thread wouldn't even have existed..

I'm normally botting 8-12 hours non stop, gathering in the same zone, using self made profiles. And I haven't been banned at all. Not even once in my few years of botting.
I would just say you had some bad luck. But talking about a banwave seriously? Then I should have been banned too, with several accounts.
But guess what i wasn't... If you use some brain you can avoid getting banned easily. And even if it hits you, there is nothing to care about if you took enough precautions.

I've been botting for over 4 years now and I've used nearly every bot base HB has on the forums.
I have 9 90s on one account and 5 more on another

If you get banned it is something you did not the software.

      This topic is a joke?
op claims to monitor his HB equipped with a relogger 100% of the time - sounds legit

Did you perhaps leave out where you undercutted stacks all day or randomly exchanged large amounts of gold with level 1 orcs?

It wasn't a ban wave, notice they were all using AFK profiles like Gatherbuddy? Theres a number of beliefs on triggers, some say its the path you follow or the number of nodes you gather per hour/day/week. Even if you set your plugins to change zones, take breaks, change characters... you're still running the same gathering profile. If every HB comes with GatherBuddy, how many of them do you think will use the default profiles that come with GatherBuddy? Even if you downloaded specific profiles, odds are they are public and/or popular. Once multiple people use the same profile, it becomes obvious, all players using that profile follow the SAME EXACT ROUTE every time you circle. So you get a popular profile and you get 1,000's of botters using it across different realms and it kinda becomes obvious and tells Blizz what to look for.

This is why they have paid profiles. Although I don't agree on having to pay for profiles or such, it is nice that it keeps those profiles low on the number of people using them. And no, I don't have any paid profiles. If you really want to be safe, make your own profile, its easy and SAFE(r). You just open the window, move to where you want, click a button and it puts the location into a profile for you. The more people that use the same profile you do, the more likely you are to get caught.

Why use paid profiles if you can use randombuddy?

If you are doing any gathering with the default or public profiles, I imagine you will get banned.
