      Hello,

I know this is probably the wrong section to ask this. But I often hang around in this section so I post it here.

Why is it that some threads are being made but there is no possibility to reply to them? I sometimes have info or can be helpful to another member who is asking for help, but I simply can't reply to the thread. Is there a reason for this?

      Thanks.

Threads in https://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorbuddy-forum/ban-section-ban-reports/ are not able to replied to because HB staff only wants the facts of the ban not a 100000 page reply thread for every ban report. Otherwise unless the thread has been closed were generally allowed to reply to everything

If a thread is closed to replies you may always PM the poster you wish to give advise to.

Id also add that support threads are also locked. So if someone asks a fairly basic question, it will stay there until a mod replies or deletes it.

The whole purpose of the support thread is that:

      User ask support question.
And the question is handled, the thread is done, and it receive lock.
The same apply if the question is offtopic or not support, gets lock too.

This is common sense for any support based forum. Get used with it.

Shows how often I use the forums... Didn't notice this change.

      It's not that common.

As for answering questions for new users, YMMV. I don't see a lot of traffic going to the support threads or a lot of FAQ threads linking to information.

If i pick up HB for the first time, I'm not seeing answers to questions I've asked myself when I started using HB. The wiki is MIA, help threads that used to exist are archived, sic.

While there are supported products, finding information about different things that aren't neatly discoverable is not canonical or universal. If you don't know what you are asking for, and often it's anecdotal questions about ephemeral issues (fps drops, soft lock vs hard, how to reset the HB store cache) , there is only a terse stock response.

What this leads to, is a hostile community presence in general to new users who keep asking for the same questions and answers.

IMO. It might be easier and better than I expected, but it is generally terse and getting the answers to indirect questions relies on the dwindling goodwill of the buddy community way more than it should.

Its sort of a non topic anyway. Thread locking should be a sparse option, and generally speaking, is rare. It's not exceptional though.

I type what I think I want to know into google and it brings up a topic in HB. So far i've found solutions to all my problems.

You miss certain point - the support forum section is different than any other.

It is official space for support questions, related to the Honorbuddy product, and with that, it is obvious, that some of the duties of the Buddy Staff is to handle the support questions in this forum section and resolve them one by one, on a daily basis probably, or so.

The resolve means - handle those, who are indeed support ones and redirect/lock all the non-support related threads.

Keep in mind, that receiving official response to your support question is quite easy for the customer here, referencing to the majority of the software's official forums, most support questions there are handled in a week, month or even slower!.
