Good morning, I am curious as to the reason that the Zekken plugin thread has been locked. I was logging in this morning to upload a copy of my database file to the thread, and found it to be completely locked. What is the reason behind this? Reading through the last page or so of posts, I see a toxic player and attitude towards the plugin and it's developer, but, beyond that, there are only basic incorrect statements made about the plugin itself. I have been using Zekken since it's release back in December of 2014, and not once has it performed with anything less than satisfactory performance. The database system that was provided by Neverdyne was, at release, already quite extensive, and not once did he mention he was going to continue to 'flesh it out' more. Instead, he decided to build in a very, very simple to use ability to add in your own spells into Zekken's spell database for avoidance, furthermore, he included complete and easy-to-follow instructions in the main post on how to do so. The attitude that was received by s single toxic player, was that if a database was included, it should be maintained by the developer, but again, a promise to maintain the database was never stated. Instead it was left to the players, knowing full well what it entailed to add/remove spell to/from the database, again, thanks to a full and complete set of instructions on how to do so in the first post of the plugin. That being said, the plugin is still in a working state, and has been for a very long time, netting over 13K downloads in its most recent version. So I ask again, why is the thread locked for a fully functioning plugin? The very nature of this plugin is to allow the community to add and remove spells from the plugin's database to enhance the performance of the plugin. A plugin that is still fully functional, but we cannot do that if the thread for the plugin is locked. As a final note, it was stated by Toxic Player, that the developer was no longer supporting the Zekken plugin, because he had moved on to a paid version, even go as far as mentioning the website's name in one of his posts. First of all, is this not against the ToS of posting on these forums? And second of all, there is no such plugin. The one, and only, plugin that currently exists as a paid version in addition to a free version, is Agil, a gear optimizer and SBing plugin. Third of all, as I stated above, Zekken is still fully functional and still has the support of the developer and the ability to be enhanced by the additions of its user-base. I ask for the final time, why was a fully functional plugin's thread closed, why was a toxic players attitude, and direct external store site mention not addressed, and why was there no reason posted as to why the thread was closed, so that some type of rebuttal or correction to the situation could be made, or at least understood by the potentially 13K users of Zekken? I await the answer. Me and my fellow Zekken users. ~newb23
For full disclosure, I reported the aforementioned toxic user's post when he resorted to ad hominems against the plugin's author, Neverdyne. I'm curious as well as to the reason behind the topic closure. *sits in his thinking chair with his hand on his chin*
I helped the person with their database problem. They had a closing slash right at the beginning of the xml which negated all the entries. Taking out that slash fixed their problem. Could we please get the zekken thread reopened?
I am pretty certain that it was closed on the owners (Neverdyne's) request, instead og having to deal with all the crap. However, nothing stops you from opening a new thread named "Zekken databases", and post your update, I for one would be exceptionally happy to see a sepearate thread for Zekken database updates.
I don't think Neverdyne would close his own thread like that, not when it is still fully functional, but, we can't know without some type of infomative final post as to the reason, even something like: Moderator says, "Topic closed at author's request." Regardless, if the thread is not re-opened, I can ask for Neverdyne to either re-create it with a disclosure statement that only related posts are allowed, and a spot for the most inclusive database in the topic. Still allow people to share or whatever, but keep them in a single spot. If he says no, I certainly don't mind opening a thread for it, but, as it is not my plugin, a disclaimer that it is strictly for the latest supported version of Zekken and the Databases, that is all. And of course, only with his permission.
But if I am not misstaken, Neverdyne intended all the time for the users of the plugin to share their databases with each other. Or did I miss something? I've tried to make a few additions to it myself, but it seems that for some reason, my screenshots is a few miliseconds off, so I never see the shape of the spell that is cast. I have hundreds of screenshots in my plugin directory that is useless for e since I don't see the shape of the cast spell in them
The thread was apparently locked instead of handing out infractions to the puerile last few posts. We've opened the thread again, and will be handing out infractions going forward. We're also closing this thread, since the issue is resolved. Ref: [Zekken] Avoid telegraphed attacks! (v1.4.2) cheers, chinajade
