i allways use to choose AMD for the bang for buck factor even through the horrid SlotA cpus but since i got a Q6600 a couple of years ago i'v not looked back this is one of the best overclockers since 486 days.

think i'v still got the parts of first pc someware it was powered with this badboy:

Chips and Technologies Super386 J38600DX-33and from there it was powered with Cyrix untill 586/k5 days where a went total AMD untill the q6600.

(am i the only one here that still thinks his pc is still the same one he started with even though every component has been changed dozens of times?)

For gaming/video/all around AMD if don't have money to piss away. I just upgraded myself. I went with AMD, cheaper and the MB's have 3rd gen SATA, crossfire, and USB 3.0 for under $100.

If I was doing a HTPC though it would be an i3 all the way with no graphics card.

Tom's Hardware is very credible. And they've shown it over the years in many more ways than I care to count.

AMD used to be better than Intel, until they started to lose market shares and really stop caring.

The only thing I'd use an AMD in, is possibly a server. And even then; I'd prefer to use an Intel, even if it costs me $50 more per month. AMDs tend to burn out much quicker than Intels, and the raw power of them is quite a bit behind Intel.

Fact: You cannot OC an AMD anywhere near the level of an Intel's ability. Period.

AMDs usually see at most, 150-200% increase. Intel's have shown 250%+ on stock cooling.

This thread is pointless now. Intel has wiped the floor with AMD. I can't justify buying an AMD over any of the newer sandy bridges. Sort of off topic but I will always be an ATI (now AMD) fanboy.
