Announcement regarding recent banwave

"Paradox" was a really good way to phrase that. And yes, we understand the announcement's description seems like a non-sequitur.

The confusion exists because Bossland will not publically reveal the details of how Tripwire works, or exactly how powerful it really is. (And, it is really an amazing and very powerful piece of work.)

Alas, we can't be any more clear about the situation without exposing trade secrets. We very much realize this is a 'trust me' approach. But, such is the nature of the situation.

Bossland makes no claim that Tripwire is infallible. However, it does its job very well. And has legitimately saved game accounts on a number of previous occasions.


We don't (and can never) know the specifics of the recent detection...
because the event has passed, and there is no way to repeat it. But, we are confident that had Tripwire been active, it would've seen the issue and reacted to it appropriately. We know this because Tripwire understands the threat vectors, and constantly watches for them.


Its easiest to think of Tripwire in terms of an Antivirus:

• It is frequently updated
• It saves your hiney from some very nasty consequences
• It sometimes generates 'false positives'
• It occasionally will miss something

But on this occasion, the fault was not Tripwire's—but instead, some important things were mishandled. The mishandling prevented Tripwire from operating as it was designed.

honorbuddy refused to make a 64 bit verison of its product , like ive said previously , blizzard dont need to scan , all they have to do is detect who is running 32 bit mode ( dead give away) nobody these days has a 32 bit system so why would anyone be running 32 bit wow unless they are botting ? seems pretty obvious

 

No, I can´t do better.
But if tripwire were active (I think it was active) in the period it hadn´t helped us.
We were all banned anyway.

 

lol....so ignorant....i use 3 pc with 32 bit windows.Do that gives the right to blizzard to ban me for botting? Dude put your head back where it was and stay there..

What are the plans to implement measures and checks to ensure that tripwire is always functioning, if you were able to spot it in the logs post bans, this should be something you can check prior to it happening again?

 

I didn't get banned in the banwave. However I was botting during that time. Should I instantly give up the accounts and start fresh? Should I transfer my characters? Anything I can "do"?

 

my main got baned just after 3 days online, and i dont give a shit cause all i did , was LFR and played it while i was bored. still got my bot account maybe i wil use that when HB wil come online. for now FF14 is the way with reborn

Years ago i translated the forum rules to german and there is no violation i can see....

Well most people don't see the bigger picture, because it is human nature to memorize the failures or negative events much better then the positive ones. We had a good long run of being undetected, after May 2015 another 6 Months... in my opinion this is quite nice for a *****ing software

1) As soon as you bot even 1 second you should be aware that you could be banned.
2) If you are mad that your account is banned, because you had so many toons, achievements or whatsover is really unlogic, because you got those by using a bot so its not your achievement and nothing to be mad about.... in case that you used it only for doing the nasty daily routine stuff and a bit of gold farming please refer to point 1 (you will have it back in 6 or 18 months )
3) If you are using the bot for making money and you are a serious gold seller... your gold is probably safe as you should know how to store it in case of bans... and just hang in there till hb is back up again


In the end everyone should have a reason for using a bot.
I like to see how far a CR can be pushed
