or get a pair of noise canceling headphones, and turn them on, but don't leave them plugged into anything. noise cancling headphones even the cheap ones are Very good at canceling out the low frequency noise from a fan, or car engine since a fan droning on is constant, its easy to filter out. then sleep with those fuckers on, and bob's your uncle you get a "silent" room.
