I was actually coming to mention something about tagging. Tagging should definitely be added. This way when people are searching for things like "Saronite" they will get all the profiles that pick up saronite.

No need for a working/non working section. Everything non working just needs to go into the archived section.

      I'll throw in my $0.02...

Like just about everyone, I've been frustrated with the profile situation. As part of populating the Wiki (on this official site), I created an empty Jump page for profiles in the hopes the situation could be rectified by those in the know. The Jump page is located at:

      (Profile Jump Page) http://www.buddyforum.de/mediawiki/index.php?title=HonorBuddy:_Profiles
      (Profile Template) http://www.buddyforum.de/mediawiki/index.php?title=HonorBuddy:_Profile_Template

I'm am not a Profile Czar and whatever you guys want to do with it is fine--as the Wiki is a community effort. I don't want to get into a "profiles belong on the forums" vs "profiles belong in the Wiki" debate. I'm just saying the page is there for your use if you want. If you decide to keep them in the forums, I'll use the Wiki page for the Profiles I publish when the rest of the Wiki writeups are done. :)

And THANKS go to you guys for wanting to address this issue!

      cheers,
      CJ

My take on it is this...

If the profile doesn't have proper tagging (For users trying to figure out if it works with current version...) then it should be in archive then if they want it out... simply ask.

Tags should specify EXACT levels ... Not "work in progress" but labeled 1-80... and not updated since June...

Dating, Levels covered currently, etc... (Mods will know what to do on this!)

I am just sick of the forums looking so confusing and information being so outdated that things like profiles are being made wrong or missing parts of them that matter... because people are reading old information!!!

Also.. Stickies that matter should be stuck. Example... In the profiles section above every single sub-forum... it should have a sticky with a example "template" profile so people get good ideas on making profiles... Makes sense.

That same sort of common sense that will make this community GROW to new heights.

I agree with this, if profiles get a proper tag in the title, for what level it is it will help people searching for there profile much faster.
When people post a profile it would be nice that they do so in a proper manner. not like this:
i've created a profile its rlly good 1-54 rest is in progress, hope you enjoy! ~userboeboekaka

This will just confuse people and may even let them think the profile sucks so bad they don't even download the profile.
Its a easier job on tony too to see if its a proper tag in the title and if they know when they need to add/remove a profile or swap it around etc.

When I post normally post a profile I normally make it in such a way the user knows exactly what he is up against.

I can help out with lots of stuff is needed in order to make this a better place for profiles.
instead of a place of confusing and work in progress topics, or where everyone scared to go here and goes to a wiki page, to be honest thats all crap.
if you need help toss me a pm either trough forums or trough msn, and I will help. (bossland or mod)

Yea you make some good points there, the problem I come up against as im creating a Duranei start zone profile, and it only goes to lev 10, but thats changing every other day. No I cant edit the title of the post so unless I make a new post for each testing release my release page stays at Duranei Start Zone Beta 1-5.

So can the powers at be let us edit the Title Field in the profile sections, then we can keep it current.

      Edit-

There should also be set a Title Config for all Profiles eg [Quest][v1.9.5.8+][Alliance] Name of what it is

Now I know a lot of that can be in tags, but its easier to real like that from the title when surfing the forums.

I agree with title tags, but not with the working 1.9.5.8 in it because just one update and it looks out of date, so thats pointless. you can simply put that into the reason of updating the post.

Exactly. Profiles/Plugins should have a specific list of details they need to keep at the top of posts and keep updated.

      Working With: HB 1.9.5.8+
Updated Last: x/x/xx (yes they could see this at bottom, but it helps)

I had more, but its late and I cant think too greatly right now.

The problem is that this adds work for authors, and some may not do it. In other cases, plugins/profiles may still work even when the author has left. It relies on the authors to be diligent and still around, whereas its much more efficient to have the community tell us if something isn't working and we can handle it.

I think it should be labled because if it's not ... no one really knows... especially when it could be a 1 liner. Simplicity makes work much eaiser for everyone. This isn't about authors. This is about making confusion go away. I like the cleanup so far. It should be MANDATORY for them to label it. Even if HB/GB or CC/Plugin is updated.

I understand where he is coming from about the authors. People come and go from the community and may not be around to update it, but at least we will know the version it was created to work for. If we see something showing 1.9.4.5 we would know its not going to work exactly as it should with the current versions. (Yes some still do work from that verison, but most dont).
