It has actually, CCP (the company producing EVE) has an in-house economist that occasionally floods the market with confiscated PLEX from people caught RMTing forcibly driving the price down in an attempt to keep it manageable. In fact, the price of PLEX in EVE is down about 7% from 6 months ago; however, it still costs about 250% more than it did when it was first introduced years ago. It's not really a fair comparison though since the WoW-token will be price fixed based on market data, and purchased tokens from the AH will be soulbound. In EVE you can 'control' (or at least influence) the PLEX market if you have enough liquid isk.
Gold selling has been the worst way to make money with warcraft. Account selling was the money maker. That died when blizz made the 60$ boost. Nothing is over, you adapt. Welcome to how life works.
If they decide to make this F2P they better step up the excitement level on the content ..the virtual world as we see it is already devoid of players even at these subscription rates
chances are people who buy the tokens to sell them aren't going to all be going around looking at gold selling websites seeing how much each site sells $20 worth of gold for. I am betting the people buying the tokens are going to sell them for stupid prices without thinking of the prices websites sells $20 worth of gold for.
All games implement things like this, and there is always a thread like this when they do and prices very rarely change and everyone always ends up with the same befuddled look on their faces at the end. Here is a short poem: “I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost... I am helpless. It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I am in the same place. But, it isn't my fault. It still takes me a long time to get out. I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in. It's a habit. My eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately. walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. I walk down another street.”
