Too bad i dont have an account to log into cuz tripwire didnt trip fast enough i guess

 

It's on bosslands blog, they are currently counter suing blizzard over it. Blizzard keeps taking honorbuddy and reverse engineering it for these ban waves. So, since even if they win that injunction, you know blizzard will keep doing that, we need to look into new solutions. I know ***** has a third party they hire for obfuscation, perhaps worth discussing? I think honorbuddy currently handles that in house, but clearly needs improvement

 

It's a really bad post, totally wrong! Tripwire has saved us from many bans including the one today. Only risk is if you logged in the couple of hours before the tripwire activated.

Please show some respect to the buddy team for their awesome work today!!

 

Honorbuddy needs some serious anti-tampering/anti reverse engineering technology that needs to be handled out of house so blizzard has no way of knowing the methods and fucks up.

I remember when I was new to honorbuddy and so positive/full of life... ahh they were the days.

 

I dunno, since the last ban wave a few weeks back(?), Ive been botting every class up again. Been going smooth and Much love for the tripwire, woke up dead when it happened but No ban.
I bot for achievements, mounts, pets etc. so even if Im banned, I Just bot myself up again. (Or cry for unban and transfer my main toon to a fresh sub)

added story, Mate used fishing bot the other day for afew minutes and woke up after this tripwire to a ban xD

 

Was logged in but not doing anything during the TripWire event and all's quiet in the western front so far.

How long on average is it between TripWire events and when the bans go out. I want to know how long until I can stop compulsively checking my battle.net while I'm at work.

 

What happened during the last to me was, I was botting, logged to play another game, had a small wow patch then when I turned the bot back on TripWire, I was banned within a few minutes.

Remember to always check the forums after an update no matter how small, dont attempt the bot because you think its safe/fine, Be sure. I personally think I only got caught for that mistake.

The fact that there are instabans and my account is still okay makes me feel a bit more at ease. Since I resubbed, I botted for like 3 hours in total and if I get banned for that I'm gonna kick myself hard.

Still just gonna have to wait and see.

If your account has a lot of value to you though I advise you not to bot on it. Create a burner instead and use that. Battlechest is so cheap.

 

It isn't instant. When HB is detected, thousands of accounts are flagged. Blizzard bans a few people from reports on an individual basis, which is probably what happened to the few people saying they were insta-banned, but they like to ban in waves from detection. It is much more harmful to HB and they can boast on the forums about how many botters they smashed.

It takes time for them to investigate and to initiate the ban wave. I'd expect it in the next 1-3 weeks. Plan accordingly if you intend on restarting. Of course, I hope you aren't banned at all. I have lost some really great accounts and I know how much it sucks, but as always, you should be prepared for the worst and recent history has not been kind to us.

Agreed. Tripwire is a joke and a selling point for the bot. There is no protection. Blizzard has had them for about a year now. Best to just move on and not use HB or bot at all.

 

It is over. You can log in. I don't think any honest person will say it is safe. HB fixed the detection issue that caused the event, but I'm sure Blizz isn't going to give up anytime soon.

 

I think there is still a place for HB as long as the ban waves are a couple months apart. Just use it to farm gold and filter to other accounts and/or sell on the black market for cash. I think the days of using a sick routine on your main in a raid is over though.

Well I was stupid enough to fire up the bot on my main account since I just resubbed after more than a year to find out if my HB pass still worked and get a character to 15 so I could start throwing myself into dungeons. Was totally oblivious of all the recent dramas but lesson fucking learned.

More fool me. Hopefully if I do get hit, I can try and talk my way through an appeal (only ever botted for faction reps and leveling, never done any economy stuff, so nothing should look particularly glaring in my account history).

Have you got any advice in case I do need to restart, or are there any threads you can point me in the direction of?
