      Its not pointless,
      Its the principals you learn that's important, not the language, except, you wont quite yet grasp this, wait a few years, till you done programming for a living, language really don't matter.

      Yeah the lecturer keeps saying you learn this language and your good to go on any other language... they say pascal is more complex to right then most other languages...

      COBOL too. Took 4 semesters of it ... completely useless.

      Pascal isnt complex, its that the syntax is wierd :), kinda

      Learn C/C++ first.

      Once you can write in C/C++ fluently (and by fluently, I don't mean you can write some calculators, and a few file modifiers. I'm talking full-fledged programs), then pretty much every other language out there is quite simple to learn. Most of them requiring learning some syntax, and maybe some libraries.

      having C# lessons at school for 3 years now, got 2010 beta for free from school, but it kept freezing and crashing.. maybe the final versions works better, but i'm still sticking with 2008;p

      Get the 2010 Retail version. It's much better than 2k8.
