Depends on what you are doing, if you plan on running a public gathering profile for 12 hours a day youll get banned but if you quest for 12 hours a day and 100% monitored you shouldnt have any problems
Its not all about how many hours you bot guys, you can bot for 700 hours (1 month 24/7) and wont get banned or it can be 1 hour bot and get full account banned. All depends on what kind of bot you are using, like if its gathering bot then your very risking, (players gets jeleous of you getting free gold and report you) or like questing bot/ bg bot you'll be lot less likely to get banned (as soo many bg bots online today - you'll be 1-100 lol). From my own exp. i got banned once for 72 hours as warning for using gatherer, i ran it for 18 hours but i've used relogger and in my opinion it caused ban. Im not saying you have to bot 24/7 or u cant at all, only bot 24/7 when you are ready getting permament ban!
I have been botting for a few years on and off only for personal gain, never profit and I've been safe. I did all of Arch, every pet in the game you can get, mounts, and achivements. Never have farmed for mats with the bot. When I do bot its only for 8-12 hours and then a long break as if I'm sleeping. If I had an account I didn't give a crap about would be the only time I botted crazy hours. I could be very lucky, or I like to think the GM's or who ever might check my play logs, don't give a shit becuase of what I do. I still raid, pvp lightly, and help people....who knows.
You may believe it or not....I have botted 4 Dk's and 4 Shammies botting 4-5 days (~100-105 hours straight) within 2 weeks after maintenance. I use ARELOG when it disconnects randomly during the night. All Dk's are level 85. Two of baby Shammies are level 85 and the last two are level 82 and 81 (using Kicks awesome profile (12-63). This is not including my other 3 accounts. *Note* All my characters are in my personal guild. With 0 perks. I do not sell gold, I avoid auction house at all times. In other words if "they" investigate they see nothing else but hours. I botted since pirox days never had a warning :/ Rule of thumb is DO NOT be greedy.
So the general consensus here is to not bot while farming crazy amounts of hours? I read something about a gathering bot that would make you change zones ever so often, does that help in being detected? I know a good majority of reports are coming from actual players (the ones who are in the same area for days, or better yet flying under the map...). So would changing zones help at all?
I agree. You can do it as long as there are different things going on in different areas. I still recommend atleast 5-6 hours of rest time to look human.
I personally run my bot usually for 9 hourish periods. 12 - 9, and then 12-9, 3 hour breaks inbetween.
Changing zones reduces the chances of a player report, because some random guy will notice if you've been online for 6 days in twilight highlands. If you've been on for days and you've been changing zones, it looks less bot-ish, hence reducing the risk of being reported. However, the fact that you're farming that much to begin with is a red flag in itself, but someone would have to actually be watching you to notice it. If you're going to bot for 15+ hours a day hours, rules of thumb i use: -Change zones every 6-8 hours -Don't draw attention to yourself - Don't talk in trade, Don't post auctions on that toon, Don't join a guild, only talk when spoken to first -If you insist on staying in the same zone 24/7, every once and a while change profiles, so the pathing is different and your logs wont show you using the same path for the past 72 hours
Depends, High Pop? Depends, Lot of Botters (Running same prof/bg bot) Depends, Your Main or a throwaway acc.? In the end its for your own, do what you think is what is good for you.
I usually bot for about 500 hours or 20 days with some small breaks in-between both with BGbuddy, Gathering and Questing. also I am not afraid to lose my account. because I know I cheat and if I get caught I have only myself to blame, so I suck it up and deal with it. I?ve been perma banned 4 times (6 if you inculde the times I?ve managed to break the ban) and I?ve learned from my mistakes. For instance I play on a not so popular battle group for my BG bot; I only do bgs during day time. gathering I can run 24/7 but I choose less popular zones (/2 is your friend) my leveling pattern is Questing 1-60 then BG 60 - 85 just thought I would share my method
well sure i can elaborate. what i do is il make an alt char and ask in tradechat where the good gathering spots are. now some will lie and tell you to go to a bad spot and that is good, but some will tell you the truth where the good spots are. so it all comes down to the /who list also the spot i use the most is: Vashj'ir
I accidently fell asleep when I was botting my paladin, so it quested over night.. It was awesome but I'd not recommend it.. I think I was lucky to not be banned.. But with gatheering herbs+ore I put it to farm for 6 hours before I go to sleep (I normally sleep 8 hours) Then when I go to school I turn on another 6hour routine so when I get back I head for AH and then I can play myself instead of botting
