I must've been lucky. 34 solves. Got it at 525 Archaeology. Exactly as I hit 525, I got it as a solve
I'm up to around 150 troll solves on my 85 dk over the period of maybe 5 days pretty much botting 24/7 and still no sword. I can't imagine people doing this by hand, even more scary when you hear horror stories of people having 500+ solves and no sword. What a total clusterfuck.
got it got it in 523 troll solves. 400+ on my hunter. Then I sick of suiciding in Twilight Highlands, so I levelled arcaheology on my other character (kept Twilight Highlands "closed".) The nodes still spawned in Twilight Highlands, but if it is phased there seems to be lesser frequency. After I got Zin'Rokh, I got Ring of Boy Emperor within the next 4 solves! Now that I give the Zin'Rokh to my DK, I am thinking of farming one more Zin' Rokh for my paladin.
The RNG in wow needs to be less random after a set number of rolls. Like increase it by 1% each solve, or .5% per solve, so by 100-200 solves, you are guaranteed to get it. Hell even if it was a guarangee by 400 solves... I've seen horror stories of over 1000 troll solves by hand and no sword....
this is pathetic! I currently have 584 troll solves with one char. and about 500 with two others... still -> no sword!!! i wish i had never started with this bullshit.
how do you guys figure out how many solves you have done? been farming for it 8 hours a day, (14 days) and still no darn 2hander..
open your archeology tab.. click the "already solved" tab and scroll through the whole thing.. Have tried to get his over 2 accounts, yet to see it proc and im over 600 solves across 4-5 different toons. Atleast i've managed to level 3 of them from 60-80. Usually gather to level after that, too much hassle with TH.
Another way to see solves is use mod called Professor. Type /prof in chat and gives you readout. Shows each race and how many rare/common solves of each. I've been trying for sword since beginning. When I hit 100 solves on troll I thought maybe I need to get other rares first. So went got all in outlands, all in northrend. I only have 4 rares left to get. The 2 staffs, 1h sword, and the 2h sword. Now I bounce back and forth between kalimdor and eastern hoping to get something. Going on 2 weeks. 12 hrs a day. Not a thing. Gave up, lvled up new alt and trying on him see if he has better luck. Now torn if should stick to main one, or try on new alt. I have alts that could use the staffs, and 2h so want them all now. 678 Trollsloves with one char and still no sword. maybe leaving the skill at 450 makes it harder to get the thing. i'll pay the trainer a visit now and see what happens at skill 525.
Doesn't seem to matter once you have the skill to get it. I've seen people with 450 get it in a couple dozen tries... and I've seen people with max skill not get it after 800+ combines. If it does matter, it modifies the already low percentage chance by such a small value that it really doesn't impact anything.
I dont know if my method made a difference but i leveled my mage through archaeology but left him in kalimdor with arch level sitting at 75 and troll sites blacklisted until toon was lvl 83 then i started leveling arch past 75 once 450 I moved mage to EK and unblacklisted troll sites and after 24 solves sword popped!
This is the only epic I don't have right now, after about 3 weeks doing arch for over 12 hours a day.... So the search still goes on....
